RINA is currently recruiting for a Hull Inspector to join its office in Palermo, Italy within the Marine Consulting Division.

Mission RINA Consulting is looking for a Hull Inspector for its Marine Consulting Business Unit.
The contract is for a fixed term, dependent on the project's timeline.

Key Accountabilities Take care of all inspections regarding the construction of the structure of the ship.
Possess good knowledge of ship-construction rules and requirements during ship building.
Demonstrate ability in reading and understanding structure drawings.
Study the structure approved drawings.
Verify the correspondence between approved and shipyard construction drawings.
Study all welding procedures applied for the construction.
Verify the welding material certificates and storage according to the requirements.
Recognize quality and defects in welding.
Learn the internal procedures of the shipyard from the steel material storage to the completion of the construction and delivery.
Expert in IACS shipbuilding construction standards.
Manage tests required during construction: tightness, strength, NDT: VT, RT, UT, PT.
In cooperation with the shipyard QC department, keep records and follow up on findings and NC related to the hull structure and welding.
Report to the Team Leader.
Education High School Diploma/GED in Naval Engineering
Qualifications • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Junior Surveyor or 5 years' experience in engineering or survey fields within the marine industry or applicable industry.
• Proficiency in English commensurate with the scope of classification, statutory certification, and related services.
• Ability to develop knowledge of RINA Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions.
• Understanding of engineering plans and basic knowledge of shipbuilding practices and ship operations.
• Ability to perform:
1) New building surveys:
- Assess the suitability of certified materials and products for new building,
- Ensure hull, machinery, and equipment compliance with rules and regulations through inspections, tests, and trials,
- Issue Certificates, Reports, Records, and Status in compliance with rules and regulations.
And/or:
2) Ship in service surveys:
- Assess hull, machinery, and equipment maintenance compliance through inspections, tests, and trials,
- Identify deficiencies and assess necessary repairs,
- Follow up on repair work or outstanding conditions,
- Endorse Certificates, issue Reports and Status.
And/or:
3) Marine Management Systems audits
And/or:
4) Testing activities and service suppliers/manufacturers certification:
- Assess certified materials and products compliance with applicable rules,
- Issue Certificates and prepare Reports and Status.
• Knowledge of ships' engineering systems and machinery.
• Knowledge of software related to job responsibilities.
• Knowledge of related technical interfaces for group project work.
