The position is based in Rome and reports to the HR Technology & Analytics Branch (HRMOI) within the HR Division. HRMOI is responsible for the development and implementation of the HR Technology Strategy and Roadmap that enables efficient and effective HR and people management processes and activities, while ensuring compliance with HR Policies and legislative requirements.
This position is a Limited Fixed Term and will have a contract duration of 1 year.
THE ROLE
To partner with HR units (HQ and Field) translating business needs into digital solutions aligned with WFP's corporate priorities. Provide support for the configuration and management of Workday Human Capital Management (HCM) system and other HR business applications contributing to WFP's digital transformation.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, within delegated authority): Partner with HR units in HQ and the Field to understand their business needs, assess challenges and provide digital solutions that support HR's digital transformation. Work closely with Workday Product owners, functional leads, and key business stakeholders to drive prioritization of requests, ensure efficient backlog management, and maintain Workday HCM configuration. Proactively address complex challenges and requirements by offering innovative solutions. Leverage Workday expertise, promote and implement Workday best practices, ensuring optimal system performance and efficiency. Design, prototype, and configure solutions in Workday HCM ensuring they meet high quality standards, while liaising with security and reporting experts as required. Ensure solutions are compatible with other Workday HCM modules and configurations, data translation, integrations and easy to maintain to facilitate seamless functionality. Support the development of tests scenarios and facilitate the user testing to ensure solutions meet functional requirements and user expectations. Address and resolve promptly Workday HCM configuration issues and bugs. Actively participate in Workday HCM releases management. Deployment of new release features depending on the backlog prioritization. Work collaboratively with HR business units to support and maintain existing HR web-based applications. Work with developers to add new functionalities and modules to the existing HR web-based applications. Provide and maintain the documentation (business process, architectural diagram, product specifications, business requirements, data models…) required for quality assurance and future maintenance of the system. Conduct unit, regression, and performance testing and develop test scripts for end-users if needed to ensure the effectiveness of solutions. Maintain, optimize, and improve existing HR web-based applications through data modelling, bugs fixing, and performance improvement to ensure a robust, reliable, and efficient technology experience for the HR team and end-users. Support decommissioning, data migration and integrations activities to ensure a smooth transition. Actively participate in training internal resources and knowledge sharing to enhance team capabilities and promote best practices. Other responsibilities as required. QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE Education: Advanced university degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field of study or First University degree with additional years of related work experience.
Experience: Minimum five years of professional experience as Business Analyst, Workday consultant, or IT Developer.
DESIRED EXPERIENCES FOR ENTRY INTO THE ROLE: Good knowledge of HR practices and processes. Good knowledge of Workday business processes and configurations for HCM Core, Organizational Management, Authorizations, Compensation, Recruiting, Talent & Performance is highly desirable. Ability to facilitate cross-functional discussions. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Effective interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate and team with others. Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently and meet deadlines, despite conflicting demands. Demonstrated commitment and achievement to delivery excellence and client relationship management. Demonstrated understanding of the cross functional dependencies and impacts to conversions and integrations. Proficiency in developing and maintaining Web based Application using PHP, Laravel, JavaScript, HTML 5, CSS, XML. Good knowledge of MySQL and Oracle Databases (Procedures, Data modelling). Good knowledge of Cloud technologies (such as OpenShift, AWS). Project management skills. Knowledge of Agile methodology is a plus. Language: Fluency (level C) in English language. Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or Portuguese (a WFP working language).
