The Position HOTEL FINANCIAL CONTROLLER Main purpose:
As Hotel Financial Controller you will be part of the management team and you will be one of our Excellence Ambassadors. You will be responsible for the finance team of The Carlton and the Rocco Forte House, Milan and you will ensure that all financial controls are in place within the timescale set by the company.
Reports to: Managing Director, Northern Italy and dotted line to Area Director of Finance,
Italy.
Main duties & responsibilities:
Manage all finance and accounting operations: month-end process, balance sheet reconciliation, controlling the company bank account, budgeting, forecasting, daily sales check; Oversee the Accounting and Warehouse department, preparing financial statements and ensuring compliance with accounting standards; Monitor cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity and optimize working capital; Ensure compliance with local, national and international tax regulations and stay updated on relevant legal and regulatory changes; Ensure the security of financial data systems to protect against cyber threats; Responsible for selection, appraisal and professional training and development of Accounting staff, including Warehouse. Responsible for talent management, acting as a coach and trainer for all the department staff; Responsible for department staff time keeping and rotas; Analyse financial data to identify trends, opportunities and areas for improving; Responsible for selection and development of team members, monitoring performance and providing feedback and setting relevant development objectives to each one of them; Responsible for leading the department in order to reach financial, quality and people objectives. Daily cooperation with GM and Hotel Manager to maximise the financial efficiency of the property; Implement cost-saving measures and strategies to improve profitability; Conduct regular risk assessments and analyse key performance indicators to identify potential financial threats and to identify areas for improvement; Maintain relations with hotel's internal and external auditors and ensure that action is taken according to auditors' recommendations. Other requirements:
English and Italian knowledge at advanced level; Previous experience as Hotel Controller or Senior Accountant in 5 stars hotels; Preferable degree in business administration or hotel management Preferable evidence of self-development through specialized courses, conferences/workshops Knowledge of Accounting Management software; knowledge of payroll software is a plus.
