Job Description:The Home Health Aide RN Instructor will be responsible for program oversight and providing instruction in accordance with New York State Home Health Aide curriculum approved by the Department of Health/Department of Education. This position is tasked with delivering high quality training in both technical skills and employability skills to prepare students for long-term employment success. The Home Health Aide RN Instructor will assess students' progress per industry-validated standards in an accurate, consistent, and timely manner; provide program monitoring and curricular updates and maintain training records. This position will work in a team environment to maximize student completion, and to maximize the quality of workplace experiences as well as job placement.Requirements:Major Responsibilities:Instruct a day-time Home Health Aide curriculum as created by the Department of Health and mandated by NYS Education Department.Coordinate the didactic portion of the program, conduct supervised practical training, and perform competency evaluationsInstruct students daily in practical and clinical skills as they relate to NY states certification requirements.Maintains departmental goals and standards of operationImplement formative and summative assessments of student learning that maximizes student achievement and employment outcomes.Ensure proper safety processes in classrooms and laboratories.Consistently model and expect exemplary employability skills from students.Adapt teaching style to meet the needs of diverse learners.Ensure that academic and attendance records are accurate, supervised practical training is documented, along with completed written tests, and eval forms and a copy of the completion certificate are all stored in a filing system for up to 6 years.Assist with program reports, including but not limited to an annual program review, employment tracking, contract monitoring, and outcomes assessment.Assist with submission of a continuing practice application to NYSED every three years.Ensure all graduates have met all competencies at the level deemed appropriate by industry standards.Ensure that local, state and national regulatory processes are followed accurately and that the programs remain in good standing.Manage the certificate registry through the HCWR Home Care workers registry found on the Health Commerce system. Complete all approvals to the NYS home care worker registry upon student completionMinimum Qualifications:Must be a registered professional nurse licensed to practice in New York StateAt least 2 years nursing experience; one of which must be in the provision of home health care services in an Article 36 or Article 40 approved agency.Teacher certification or at least 2-years' experience teaching adult learners.Must not be on the Office of Medicaid Inspector General's list of Restricted, Terminated, or Excluded Individuals or the US Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General's list of Excluded Individuals/Entities.Knowledge of current medical practices, tools and software.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESExcellent organizational skills and attention to detail.Strong interpersonal communication and excellent written skills.Ability to manage multiple projects with multiple deadlines.Must be a team player who prioritizes student success.Must want to continuously improve classroom practices.Knowledge and understanding of the College's mission of service to the community.Additional Information:The Home Health Aide certification program is 4-week of instruction, lab and clinical hours. The program will run throughout the calendar year with number of cohorts dependent on student enrollment.
