**Duties**:
- Serves as a Health Promotion Manager and is responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of health promotion activities conducted through the Commands' Wellness Programs.
- Responsible for oversight of the health promotion component of the Wellness Program in carrying out the mission, functions and policies as directed by higher authority.
- Serves as an expert on health education issues and is responsible for planning, conducting, and evaluating seminars, workshops, short courses and informational meetings concerning Health education activities.
- Coordinates the clinical preventive screening and counseling components of the Wellness Program.
- Keeps abreast of new information by participating in professional meetings, reading literature, and undertaking independent research to review and recommend actions.
- Responsible for health promotion events planning and coordination, developing and implementation of an annual health promotions marketing plan.
- Assists in the formulation of policy, establishes objectives, and provides guidance to subordinate staff and other Naval Hospital personnel for implementation and successful execution of the health promotion component of the Wellness Program.

- Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
- You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
- One year trial/probationary period may be required.
- Applicants must comply with the Exceptional Family Member Program requirements as outlined in the DoD Instruction 1315.19.
- This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
- This position requires Moderate to Heavy lifting up to 25lbs.
- This position requires Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel approximately 25% of the time away from your permanent duty station.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Top Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment which includes a comprehensive background investigation.

- Basic Requirement for Health Promotions Manager:
- Degree: Bachelor's or graduate (or higher level) degree with major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position.
This degree must be from an educational program accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
- In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
- Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes, developing, implementing, organizing and monitoring health promotions activities conducted through the commands' wellness program; evaluating effectiveness of health education; and conducting assessments, analyzing problem areas, trends, significant program accomplishments, identifying problem areas and making recommendations to improve efficiency, utilization and resources, and intake interviews for TRICARE beneficiaries.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

- Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Nursing, patient safety, health care quality, and medical and healthcare fields.
- OR
- Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12.
Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18.
Add the two percentages.

- Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
- U.S. citizens overseas under ordinarily resident status are not eligible for appointment under the Status of Forces Agreement.
- If an employee brings a child to an overseas location and that child is entitled to attend a DoD school on a space-required basis in accordance with DoDEA Regulation 1342.13, the DoDEA and the Military Department responsible for providing related services will ensure that the child, if eligible for special education, receives a free appropriate public
