**Position Overview**
As the **Head of Research and Development (R&D)** at Permobil Italy, you will take a pivotal role in steering the company's innovation trajectory.
Your primary responsibility entails leading the conception, development, and execution of cutting-edge products and technologies.
You will hold full responsibility within the R&D department, overseeing all aspects of research and development initiatives and ensuring that the R&D team aligns seamlessly with the business objectives of the company while continuously fostering an environment for innovation and growth.
**Key Responsibilities**
- ** Strategic Leadership**: Lead the development and execution of the R&D strategy aligned with Company's business goals, identifying emerging trends, technologies, and market opportunities while collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive innovation.
- ** Product Development**: Oversee the entire product lifecycle from concept to commercialization, ensuring products meet quality standards and regulatory requirements, while leading design, prototyping, and testing efforts.
- ** Team Management**: Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing R&D team, fostering a culture of creativity, curiosity, and continuous learning, setting clear goals and providing regular feedback.
- ** Budget and Resource Allocation**: Develop and manage the R&D budget, allocate resources effectively, and prioritize projects based on strategic impact.
- ** Collaboration and Partnerships**: Identify potential collaborations for joint research and development with external research institutions, universities, and industry partners.
- ** Intellectual Property (IP) Management**: Protect and manage the organization's IP portfolio, file patents and trademarks as needed, monitor the competitive IP landscape, and assess technical and market risks associated with R&D projects.
- ** Market Insights and Trends**: Stay informed about industry trends, customer needs, and the competitive landscape, using market insights to guide R&D decisions and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards
- ** Reporting and Communication**: Communicating and provide regular updates to senior management and stakeholders about R&D progress, challenges, and successes.
**Qualifications and Skills**
- Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field,
- 5+ years of experience in R&D leadership roles, with experience in international and multicultural work environments being advantageous,
- Proven track record and ability to envision and drive long-term R&D strategies,
- Strong leadership skills and passion for innovation,
- Excellent communication skills,
- Fluency in English and Italian,
- Knowledge of MDR (Medical Device Regulations) is a plus.
