Our scope and geographical area of work are rapidly evolving - we are currently developing several projects that will increase carbon stocks through planting or aiding in natural regeneration; reduce greenhouse gas emissions or improve energy efficiency.
Role Description: The Head of Operations will lead the successful implementation and certification of our innovative carbon projects across Africa. As a key member of our leadership team, the HO will oversee all Project Directors, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet the highest environmental standards.
The HO will define and implement standardized processes and procedures for Mamaland's carbon project operations, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and adherence to the highest environmental standards.
Main Responsibilities: Develop and implement operational plans and budgets for carbon capture/reduction initiatives;Manage Project Directors, providing strategic guidance and ensuring efficient project execution;Lead the certification process for all Mamaland carbon projects, guaranteeing adherence to relevant standards;Conduct regular budget variance analyses and take corrective actions to maintain project budgets;Possess a deep understanding of carbon credit pricing mechanisms and their impact on project economics;Foster a collaborative and results-oriented environment within the operations team.Experience and Qualifications: Minimum 10 years of experience in project management, preferably within the carbon market;Proven track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget, utilizing strong planning and cost-control measures;Proficiency in carbon offset market dynamics and regulations;Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills to manage a diverse team and collaborate with stakeholders;Experience working in Africa and navigating the continent's unique operational realities;Fluent in English language. Portuguese and/or French are desirable;Availability to travel 2 weeks for month.
