ROLE SUMMARY: We are seeking a Head of Language Acquisition, who will be responsible for leading the learning in the MYP and DP across the Languages department as well as someone who is an exceptional teacher.
The ideal candidate is a leader who will empower those in his/her team to ensure they deliver the very best results for students.
This person will be driven to capitalize on the innate interest of international students and their parents in languages and raise the profile of languages in IS Como.
The person appointed will be expected to begin work in August 2025, before which date a criminal records check will need to be completed as part of our safer recruitment and child safeguarding policies.

Have extensive experience in teaching a language acquisition subject at the high school level.
Have a proven track record of promoting languages.
Have experience leading a languages department (not essential but an advantage).
Be an exceptional teacher who has high expectations of students and the department.
Lead and collaborate effectively on the overall development of the curriculum of languages.
Be committed to empowering students.
Value promoting international mindedness.
Show a high level of initiative, flexibility, creativity, and have excellent organizational skills.
Offer at least one co-curricular initiative a week that reflects their own interests.
Lead a diverse team of language acquisition teachers with a common vision of excellence.
Collaborate with the DP and CP core, particularly on language development and the language portfolio.
Experience of teaching the IB is an advantage.
