Position: Head of Engineering and Procurement Overview: The Head of Engineering and Procurement will play a critical role in bridging the business unit with EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) activities.
In the short term, the primary focus will be on overseeing both engineering and procurement functions, ensuring alignment between technical requirements and strategic goals.
The candidate will also have the potential to expand into a leadership role, acting as a crucial link between the business unit and EPC execution.
Key Responsibilities: Engineering Leadership: Oversee all phases of engineering, including preliminary and detailed engineering.
Coordinate with external engineering firms to ensure project specifications and deadlines are met.
Manage engineering processes related to project bids, proposals, and offer preparation.
Ensure the execution of detailed engineering designs and provide strategic guidance during the EPC phase.
Procurement Oversight: Lead the procurement function, focusing on strategic sourcing, supplier selection, and contract negotiations.
Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure timely and cost-effective sourcing of materials and services.
Manage relationships with key suppliers and ensure alignment with project specifications and timelines.
Drive procurement strategies that support the overall business objectives, particularly in large-scale EPC projects.
Integration with EPC: Collaborate closely with the EPC teams to ensure seamless integration between engineering and procurement activities.
Act as a technical advisor for procurement-related decisions, ensuring that all components align with engineering requirements.
Support the business unit with engineering expertise in bid preparation and project execution.
Ensure timely and effective coordination between all departments involved in the project lifecycle.
Grid and Connection Engineering: Ensure the development and execution of projects that involve grid connections, working with specialized grid managers.
Coordinate and manage teams involved in connection engineering, ensuring compliance with technical standards and regulatory requirements.
Lead discussions with external bodies, including grid operators and regulatory authorities.
Leadership Team Management: Directly manage and develop a team of engineers and procurement professionals.
If necessary, build out the engineering team with specialized roles, such as Grid Managers or other intermediate-level technical experts.
Provide strategic guidance and foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
Key Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, preferably within the fields of Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering.
10+ years of experience in a leadership role within an EPC environment, preferably in the energy, infrastructure, or industrial sectors.
Proven experience in engineering leadership, with a strong focus on preliminary and detailed engineering in complex projects.
Deep knowledge of procurement processes, including sourcing, contracting, and supplier management.
Experience in bid and proposal management, and a strong understanding of financial considerations like cost estimates and project pricing.
Strong familiarity with connection engineering and grid integration processes.
Ability to manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including external engineering firms, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.
