The Hardware Engineer is part of a development team building and working autonomously on the design of part of the system (HW board or FPGA or firmware).
He/She is involved in all areas of development from design to test .
Design HW Architectures (allocating Analog/Digital processing resources, microprocessors and memories, communication interfaces ) of mid-complex Opto-Mechatronics & SW Embedded systems for Stationary Industrial Scanner products (Laser Scanner and Matrix Imager family).Reporting to the R&D ITA Electrical Engineering Manager, the duties and responsibilities of the Hardware Engineer include:Design HW Architectures (allocating Analog/Digital processing resources, microprocessors and memories, communication interfaces ) of complex Opto-Mechatronics & SW Embedded systems for Stationary Industrial Scanner products (Laser Scanner and Matrix Imager family)Evaluating and providing recommendations on the project effortsDesigning the test plan and adopted procedureEnsuring sustainable design of the product subsystem in his/her scope of responsibility adopting standardization principles and robust design methodologiesDocumenting the concept definition choices, the testing methodology, the strengths and weaknesses of the solutions implemented (to allow someone to take over the job done) -Fixing bugs during the integration phase and guarantee sustaining activities on existing productsFoster technical growth by: Mentoring juniors; Stay abreast of the technical state of the art; Benchmarking on competitors' productsCore Competency Requirements:Advanced knowledge (both Analog Design and Digital Design) of complex HW platform design, main electronic components (Microprocessor, Flash, RAM, FPGA/CPLD, Ethernet PHYs, with relative power supply solutions) and Microprocessor architecture (single/multi core ARM or DSP);Advanced knowledge of Main Communication Protocol Interfaces (Serial, I2C, SPI, Ethernet) and High Speed Communication Protocol Interfaces (LVDS, MIPI, PCI-Express, ecc..);Advanced knowledge of Electronic CAD (Mentor Graphics) and PCB layout design and rules (Signal Integrity, Impedance Control, ecc..);Advanced knowledge of CMOS Image Sensor and CCD Linear Sensor technology;Advanced knowledge of main Electronic Laboratory Instruments and tools (Power supplies, Oscilloscopes, Logic Analyzers, Signal Generators, ecc..);FPGA/CPLD design and programming knowledge (VHDL);Main Industrial Fieldbus protocols knowledge (TSN, Ethernet-IP, Profinet, Profibus, Canopen, ecc..);C, C++, Python, MATLAB programming capability.Key attitudes:Ability to work in team;Capability to work in a dynamic, international team and in a complex environment;Problem solving attitude, open minded;Requirements:Education: Master's degree in Electronic Engineering or Computer Science Engineering or a related discipline;Years of experience: 1-3 years experience in the same role.
