Hardware Development Engineer, OPS Eng Technology Innovation EngineeringAmazon is seeking an experienced and business-oriented Engineer to support the hardware development and the implementation of mechatronics and packaging automation in our EU fulfillment network.
Ideal candidates will have Engineering Program and Project Management experience combined with an established technical problem-solving ability and passion for Innovation. The role will understand all aspects of an Amazon Fulfillment Center while focusing on its automation technologies and storage solutions. This person will be responsible for planning, designing, and delivering state-of-the-art mechatronics and packaging machinery solutions to automate current operational processes. Responsibilities: End-to-end ownership for large-scale automation engineering projects (planning, design, installation, commissioning, and qualification, launch support)Lead the hardware development phase of the new technologies, matching internal and external financial, safety, and ergonomic standardsCoordinate critical path items, dive deep into technical details, and provide innovative solutions to resolve issuesAssess and communicate project status, escalations on potential risks and delays across multiple teamsPrepare and conduct weekly standing meetings with internal teams and external vendors/contractors to plan and track deliverablesCreate, submit, and track the relevant CAPEX documentation to ensure that all projects are delivered within budget and the best overall valueAssist in providing equipment specifications and technical support to procurement and other businessCollaborate closely with various internal teams such as World Wide Engineering, Construction, Operations, Reliability Maintenance Engineering, IT, and ProcurementBASIC QUALIFICATIONSBachelor or Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplineTechnical leadership and project management experience in designing mechatronics solutions and/or packaging machineryExperience using MS Excel, AutoCAD, MS Project, and related softwareFlexibility to travel up to 50% across projects in EuropePREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSKnowledge about automated material handling systems, packaging machinery, and storage solutionsProject execution experience in a construction environment (newbuild) or operational environment (buildout)Comprehensive understanding of operational as well as reliability and maintenance processes including relevant software toolsGerman, French, Polish, Turkish, Arabic are considered preferred qualifications
