Description: Business Unit Transformers' Supply Chain function has a commitment to further strengthen its drive in the area of supplier and material sustainability to contribute to Hitachi Energy's sustainability vision. The SCM Sustainability strategy consists of three pillars: Supplier sustainability , material sustainability , and material compliance . In the SCM Material Sustainability lead role, you will be taking the end-to-end responsibility of the Material Sustainability management pillar (from process definition to implementation and monitoring/reporting for the whole Business Unit). You will be working closely with the Transformers Business Unit Sustainability Head and Global/Regional Category managers. Your responsibilities: Create the SCM Material sustainability processes roadmap for the business unit. Contribute to the overall SCM Sustainability strategy creation. Create the BU level standardized process flow for material sustainability requirements (e.g.: CBAM: Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, LCA mapping: Supplier Life Cycle Assessment data mapping). Clarify the Roles and Responsibilities within the BU for related functions and regions. In alignment with Business Unit Sustainability Head and M&S (Marketing & Sales), define annual targets for regional SCMs, KPI definitions, monitor the progress, and regular reporting. Identify opportunities to improve major suppliers' material sustainability, drive decarbonization within our supply chain, increase the transparency of LCA data, and create business cases in collaboration with Category managers and M&S. Respond to M&S customer requests for specific tenders and coordinate related data collection from key suppliers. Develop and organize LCA, CBAM basics trainings for the SCM community and build best practices among categories. Guide the strategic suppliers (as per their need) towards emission zero goals in collaboration with Global Category managers. In collaboration with Hitachi Energy SCM team, monitor upcoming sustainability requirements from customers as well as major legislations and bring clarity of the requirements to the SCM teams. Your background: More than 10 years of experience in an equivalent industry. Experience with LCA and/or EPD development. Previous leadership experience in strategy/roadmap creation in supply base management and/or in Sustainability. In depth and successful experience of implementing global sustainability program(s) in large, international organization(s), preferably with a focus on Materials and Supplier Sustainability (e.g: such as Life Cycle Assessments, Carbon zero programs, or green material introduction projects with the suppliers). Understanding of materials sustainability related standards such as: ISO 14040/14044, ISO 14021/14025, EN 15804 / EN 50693, ISO 14067, Greenhouse Gas Protocol - Product Life Cycle Accounting and Reporting Standard. Understanding and previous experience with supplier sustainability legislations (German Supply Chain Act, 3rd party sustainability assessment platforms such as Ecovadis) is an advantage. Customer focus with the ability to build effective working relationships and inspire others. Leader with strong communication, presentation, and influencing skills in global industrial organizations.
