Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.
We are seeking a talented Thermal Analysis Engineer to help us in our mission by contributing to the development of our future projects. As a Thermal Analysis Engineer, you will be in charge of the thermal sizing and analysis of a variety of new projects. You will work closely with our mechanical, CAD, and system engineers to assess feasibility and preliminary sizing of thermal aspects. You will be part of the Vehicle Design Team and will report to the Principal Thermal Engineer and the Vehicle Design Lead. You will work in close collaboration with System, Avionics and AIT teams.
Key Responsibilities
In your capacity as a Thermal Analysis Engineer, your role will be continuously evolving, but day-to-day your duties will include:
Contributing to co-engineering sessions with CAD, mechanical and system engineersSupporting project development for thermal aspects interacting with a wide variety of partners and suppliersGenerating thermal models, with the right level of complexity depending on the maturity and goals of the studyDetermining the thermal load cases throughout the entire project lifecycleProviding technical solutions to optimise thermal management, in collaboration with other subsystems (propulsion, avionics, ECLSS...)Contributing to the creation and improvement of thermal analysis toolsEffectively communicating and providing recommendations through analyses, preparation, and presentation of technical dataPreparing technical documentation and participating in design reviews What We Would Love to See from You Qualifications Advanced degree (Master of Science or PhD) in aerospace engineering, heat transfer and fluid mechanics, or another related field+2 years of experience working in space project thermal analysesGood knowledge of thermal managementStrong knowledge in thermal analysisExperience with several thermal software (Thermal Desktop, ESATAN) is strongly appreciatedExperience with programming (Python)Experience with CFD is a plusFluent in English. German, French, and Italian are assets Skills and Behaviors Strong oral and written communication skillsStrong analysis and problem-solving skillsStrong organizing and prioritization of tasksPositive and flexible attitude to get the job doneDemonstrates behaviors consistent with The Exploration Company's core values of Vision, Competence, Integrity, and Passion Location: Torino
