Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.
We are seeking a talented Mechanical Analysis Engineer to help us in our mission by contributing to the development of our future projects. As a Mechanical Analysis Engineer, you will be in charge of the mechanical sizing and analysis of a variety of new projects.
You will work closely with our thermal, CAD, and system engineers to assess feasibility and preliminary sizing of mechanical aspects. You will be part of the Vehicle Design Team and will report to the Principal Mechanical Engineer and the Vehicle Design Lead. You will work in close collaboration with System, Avionics and AIT teams.
Key Responsibilities In your capacity as a Mechanical Analysis Engineer, your role will be continuously evolving, but day-to-day your duties will include:
Contributing to co-engineering sessions with CAD, thermal and system engineers
Supporting project development for mechanical aspects interacting with a wide variety of partners and suppliers
Generating mechanical models, with the right level of complexity depending on the maturity and goals of the study
Determining the mechanical load cases throughout the entire project lifecycle
Providing technical solutions to optimize mechanical performance, in collaboration with other subsystems (propulsion, avionics, ECLSS…)
Contributing to the creation and improvement of mechanical analysis tools
Effectively communicating and providing recommendations through analyses, preparation, and presentation of technical data
Preparing technical documentation and participating in design reviews
What We Would Love to See from You Qualifications Advanced degree (Master of Science or PhD) in mechanical engineering, structural analysis or another related field
+2 years of experience working in space project mechanical analyses
Strong knowledge in mechanical analysis
Experience with several mechanical software (Altair Hypermesh, MSC NASTRAN) is strongly appreciated
Experience with programming (Python)
Experience with composite materials is a plus
Fluent in English. German, French, and Italian are assets
