Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.
We want you as a creative, innovative, CAD designer to help us in our mission by modelling the physical architecture of our current and future vehicles.
You will be successful in this role if you are able to help us:
Contribute to the definition of our overall vehicle architecture Contribute to the detailed definition of our vehicle Your main tasks are the following: Build the CAD physical model of the vehicles and their sub-systems on CATIA (or equivalent) and contribute to the choices in terms of overall architecture, aeroshape, equipment accommodation and main materials. Maturate the CAD models by adjusting the architecture, accommodation, structure materials and thicknesses based on the outcomes of the thermo-mechanical computation loops and system trade-offs. Collaborate closely with thermal and structural analysts, materials and manufacturing engineers to ensure compliance of the physical architecture with the mission environments and manufacturing constraints. Ensure the configuration management of the CAD models. Manage the vehicle structure mass budget aided by the CAD model, and tracked in the overall system database. Contribute to co-engineering sessions with the mission analysis, propulsion, avionics, GNC and system engineers, by sharing guidelines or orders of magnitude in order to converge on the feasibility of a solution, based on engineering feeling or simplified analytical approach. Define the volume allocations and clearances specifications towards the vehicle sub systems. Contribute to the improvement of CAD tools and processes. Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data. Provide technical documentation & drawings and participate to reviews of designed systems. Assist the Additive Manufacturing engineers for dedicated studies. Qualifications: An advanced degree in mechanical, aerospace or manufacturing engineering would be appreciated. Minimum of 5 years of experience as CAD designer. Experience with CAD software (CATIA, Nx...). Strong knowledge on aerospace vehicle design and associated challenges. Experience in Additive Manufacturing. Fluent in English.
