AAC Clyde Space is looking for a creative, driven and enthusiastic engineer to join our team to assist in the development, testing and deployment of our world-class RF communication systems for satellites and associated ground systems.
This is a full-time position at our AAC Space Africa site in Durbanville, Cape Town.
Key Responsibilities:FPGA design and coding in a hardware description language and embedded software for Multi-Processor System-on-Chip (MPSoC) devicesSystem engineering of communication subsystems using SDR and DSP techniquesProduce technical documentation such as specifications, test procedures and design reportsAnalyse designs for errors and efficiencyGenerate test benches and perform functional testing to validate designsParticipate in code reviews by recommending improvementsCollaborate with other engineers on technical and design issuesSkills required:Proven track record in industry with FPGA design including design lifecycle, Vivado/Libero/ModelSim design tool flow and FPGA design for network applicationsProficiency with VHDL and Tcl scripting languageAbility to transition between hardware languages and abstraction layers on an as needed basis and demonstrate excellence throughoutProficient as a C programmer with experience in developing embedded systems.Proficiency in developing tools in Python to assist with the testing and deployment of embedded systemsWorking with other developers using modern version control systems such as Git.Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with both technical and non-technical audiencesAbility to liaise with stakeholders, suppliers and customersCan work independently as well as ability to effectively collaborate within cross cultural teamsAbility to organise self and prioritise workload in dynamic environment with tight deadlinesExperience with Verilog and SystemVerilog beneficial.Development of digital radio transmitters and receivers in Software Defined Radio architecturesApplication of DSP techniques in SDR-based communication systemsProficiency in the use of Matlab to simulate discrete time systemsFamiliarity with high-speed serial interfaces such as LVDS, JESD204BFamiliarity with Secure IP and experience evaluating vendor IP coresExperience working with GNU Linux based development environment and virtual machinesABOUT AAC CLYDE SPACEAAC Clyde Space, a leading New Space company, specialises in small satellite technologies and services that enable businesses, governments, and educational organisations to access high-quality, timely data from space.
