Local Unit and Position Description:Would you like to work on the sustainability of global food systems in collaboration with food industries and other stakeholders?We are strengthening the Food Systems research team and seek a highly motivated Food Production and Technology Researcher.We are seeking a colleague with the following profile: Extensive knowledge of food production, including food processing technologies, packaging, and process optimization.
Experience with sustainability practices in food production, including waste reduction, energy efficiency, and resource management.
An understanding and/or interest in food policies and relevant industry standards would be an advantage.
Appreciation of the understanding of global food systems and recognition of the importance of food security.
You will be part of DNV's Group Research and Development (GRD) and a multidisciplinary research programme working across several business areas to bring new insight to DNV's services and customers.
Typical responsibilities: Conduct cutting-edge research on sustainable food technologies, including the sustainability assessment of alternative food production, processing and packaging solutions, resource optimization and waste reduction.
Stay abreast of the latest developments in sustainable food technology and contribute to the company's thought leadership in the field.
Collaborate with colleagues and food companies to identify the main needs of our clients and generate ideas and concepts for future assurance services.
Build an international network of industry, academia and key international organizations to position the team as a key stakeholder for the sustainability of food systems.
Gain insight into industry and policy trends in sustainable food systems and conduct exploratory research to stay on top of new industry needs and regulatory requirements in the sector.
Develop and coauthor scientific publications and white papers, providing insights and setting the direction for future research opportunities in the field.
Manage projects in time, cost, and quality fostering a collaborative and creative work environment and acting as an interface with the relevant stakeholders for the assigned activities.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and in multi-partner research activities bridging research and industry needs by developing innovative solutions to address relevant challenges in the food sector.

Relevant science and technology degree with a focus on food science at Master's or PhD level.
At least 3 years of previous experience in the Food & Beverage sector or other relevant industries.
A focus on innovation, resource optimization and sustainability is preferred.
Proficiency in data analysis and visualization.
The ability to use digital tools to conduct statistical analysis (.
R, Python, SAS) and effectively represent data (.
Power BI) is preferred.
Result-oriented with the ability to conduct research independently and work as a strong team player.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Excellent written and spoken English capabilities.
Willingness to take own responsibilities.
Curiosity and eagerness to create and share knowledge.
Experience with project management and participation in publicly-funded research projects is a plus.
