Fluidic Components Engineer - Hardware OwnerJob Description SummaryAt Avio Aero, a GE Aerospace Company, we've been reimagining the power of flight for more than 100 years.
We specialize in the design, production, and maintenance of components and systems for engine and mechanical transmissions applied to both civil and military aviation (i.e., accessory drivetrains, engine thermal management, turboprop helicopter reduction gearboxes, etc.
).We are reinforcing the focus to excellence looking for a talented and experienced Fluidic Components Engineer who will cover the Hardware Owner position, expected to perform concept studies, lead design, support producibility and field service of components for next-gen mechanical transmissions, engines, and controls systems.In this position, you will conduct assessments and develop action plans to anticipate and respond to problems, participate as a presenter in technical and program reviews, and be part of a team with a full ownership of accessories and control products, through deep collaboration with engineering, quality, and system departments.Essential ResponsibilitiesThe Fluidic Hardware Owner will be part of the Controls Accessories Marine (CAM) - Fluidic Hardware Owner Team.
In this position, you will be in charge of:Capturing system requirements, flow-down them to assess components architecture and key characteristics.Collecting, bargaining, and releasing technical requirements of components like pumps, filters, valves (i.e., thermal, bypass, relief), strainers, heat exchangers/cooling fans, and sensors (i.e., pressure and temperature).Creating definitions of parts, modules, and assemblies in the form of 2D cross sections, 3D models, tolerance stack-ups, in various electronic data formats to support analysis, manufacturing, assembly, tooling, and inspection.Leading and executing the design, analysis, or evaluation of assigned components using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements.Ensuring design and hardware deliverables to internal and external customers, embracing Avio Aero design execution quality, within deadlines agreed with technical leaders and/or program managers with respect to product lifecycle (from concept, through design and reviews gates, prototype and certification, field introduction, investigation, and sustaining).Issuing the technical documents relative to the components design according to engineering policies and procedures (presentations as well as analysis reports, deliverables, certification reports, design record books).Proactively leading and supporting as a presenter in technical and program reviews with senior engineers, program leaders, external companies, suppliers, and customers.Preparing test plans and defining pass/fail criteria, post-processing data acquiring, elaborating, deducing, and correlating them with physics phenomena.Supporting source technological substantiation and non-conformance assessments (MRB).Supporting activities related to development findings, components performance, and investigations (test requests, test data post-process, laboratories investigation).Qualifications/RequirementsMaster's degree in Engineering: Mechanical, Aeronautical/Aerospace, Physics or related, from an accredited university.Robust knowledge of fundamental mechanical design concepts, mechanics of materials, design hand calculations, hydraulic and electrical disciplines.Knowledge in defining fluidic component design intent, leading analysis, supporting reviews, and supporting procurement and validation in all product lifecycle.Previous proven working experience on fluidic mechanical components (valves, pumps, filters, pipes, sensors, fan, heat exchangers) and fluidic systems (fuel, oil, air) preferably in the aeronautical section.Fundamental knowledge of CAD (preferably Unigraphics) and Geometrical Dimensional Tolerancing (GDT).Practical use of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Great accountability/collaboration interpersonal/communication skills.Capability to interface with internal departments and to manage technical relationships with external companies, suppliers, and customers.Fluent in written and oral Italian and English.Work Visa and Italian citizenship, in accordance with local regulation, are required.Desired CharacteristicsActive team working capabilities.Strong oral and written communication skills - Italian and English.Highly motivated, passionate, curious, and enthusiastic for engineering challenges.Technical presentation skills (synthesis or details according to audience).Clear thinking, system mindset, and solving skills.Knowledge of aviation component certification process.NX, Ansys, Matlab, Simulink.What We OfferAvio Aero promotes remote work and encourages a good, healthy, and satisfying work-life balance.
