The activities of the postdoc will be carried out at the Center for Biomolecular Nanotechnologies, located in Lecce.YOUR TEAMYou will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where material, mechanical and electronic engineers, computational scientists, physicists, chemists, biotechnologists, and biologists collaborate, each with their expertise, to carry out a scientific activity with a shared research goal.The Smart Healthcare Technologies Research Unit is coordinated by Prof. Massimo De Vittorio, who has extensive experience in the development of science and technology applied to nanophotonics, nanoelectronics, and nano and micro electromechanical systems (NEMS/MEMS) for applications in the fields of life-science, energy, and ICT.The research focuses on environment, health, and safety (EHS), functionalized materials, and robotics.
This includes developing a new generation of biointerfaces based on novel electronic, piezoelectric, acoustic, and optoacoustic technologies to interact more efficiently with living cells and organisms.
Activities include basic research and full prototyping (up to TRL 6-7), market-oriented technology development, and translational research of medical devices.Your main responsibilities will be:Production of compliant biocompatible transducers for monitoring sleep, muscular symptoms, or cardiovascular health.Integration of transparent piezoelectric transducers on implantable probes and optical waveguides for in-vivo ultrasonography and optoacoustic applications.ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTSMaster degree in a scientific discipline, preferentially in Material Engineering, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Physics, Electronic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering.Documented experience in the development of advanced electronic, piezoelectric, and multifunctional biointerfaces.Documented experience in micro and nanotechnologies, electrical characterization, and measurements.Excellent knowledge of the basic concepts of signal acquisition and/or piezoelectrics.Ability to properly report, organize and publish research data.Good command of spoken and written English.ADDITIONAL SKILLSHands-on experience in micro and nanofabrication technologies.Experience in characterization and measurements through lab equipment (oscilloscope, source meter, voltage generator, etc.
