JOB OPENING Title: Family Advocacy Program (FAP) Specialist Location: Vicenza, Italy Start Date: 30 September 2024 Job-Type:  Full Time (40 Hours/week) SUMMARY Specialist needed to provide outreach and education services for the Family Advocacy Program (FAP) within Army Community Service.
Basic Services include: Provide services for Parent/Child Educational Classes.
Provide educational activities that include briefings or presentations that focus on enhancing parenting/caregiver expertise and knowledge that minimize the risk of child abuse/domestic violence.
These topics can include a wide range to include mental health, safety, policy, resources, best practices or strategies.
Responsible for the development, coordination, marketing, and administrative requirements of parent/child educational classes, FAP Prevention Education Services and coordination of services, the EPC program, and FAP related special programs.
Provide FAP briefing and performing/supporting FAP trainings within the USAG Italy community to promote child abuse prevention/identification and domestic violence prevention efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS Education: Bachelor's Degree (from an accredited university) in one of the following fields: Social or behavioral health science; Psychology, Counseling, Social Work or Social or behavioral health education; Community or public health.
Experience: a minimum of 2 years experience in all of the following areas: Family and children's services/advocacy; Organization of community programs; Family violence prevention Ability to fluently read, write and speak English (proficiency levels equivalent to levels 3 or higher of the BILC.)
  Have interviewing and assessment skills; Have experience in conducting home studies; Have ability to develop and implement child abuse and/or domestic violence prevention programs; Have teaching and training skills; have experience in FAP related programs; have knowledge of FAP as it relates to programs and services in the prevention of child and spouse abuse; experience living and or working in the military environment; ability to provide crisis intervention; Have the ability to use up-to-date computer software and automation systems.
Submit to annual background check and maintain DOCPER documentation THE DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING: Parent/Child Educational Program: Provide  programming to include parent/child stress and anger management, parent child communication, parent/child teamwork and parent/child enrichment.
Provide education and training in family violence prevention to include Child Abuse Identification and Reporting classes at least semi- annually to the caregivers with Child, Youth and School Services (CYSS) as requested for coaches, community partners, annual to all troops, and as requested to the Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DoDDS) personnel and mandated reporters (i.e.
Chaplain, dental staff, ASAP staff, nursing).
Assist with New Parent Support Program (NPSP) educational classes, playgroups, community outreach, awareness campaigns and administrative tasks.
Ensure maintenance and record keeping of all documentation.
Develop, market, and facilitate at least one parent/child educational program or outreach initiative each month.
Outreach: FAP related Special Programs.Participate / coordinate and assist with special programs to include Child Abuse Prevention Month activities, anti- bullying programs, Domestic Violence Awareness Month activities, child/youth safety programs and FAP overview classes, providing education and information on PSB-CY.
This includes reaching out to parents to promote FAP services in strategic locations to include Baby Café, DoDDs, CYSS and other locations.
This may include working on the occasional weekend or holiday.
Develop, market, and facilitate at least one relationship building program/outreach quarterly to strengthen marriages, relationships, or couples.
Administration: Family Advocacy Program accreditation documentation maintenance.
Assisting the FAP manager and FAP staff with creating, maintaining and organizing the documentation per ACS FAP accreditation and compiling data and documenting all necessary data in the ACS Client Tracking System (CTS).
Responsible for scheduling and providing all administrative requirements associated with tasks.
Responsible for maintaining a data base to ensure that all DoDEA, CYSS and mandated reporters receive their training.
Support Services: Knowledgeable of domestic/family violence dynamics.
Current with up-to-date research in this field to be included in training and/or community education.
Assist in coordinating marketing of FAP educational resources and community events.
Assist in scheduling and performing FAP training for the military components, family members, and general community authorized support services.
Assist and collaborate with the New Parent Support Program (NPSP) on educational classes, materials and activities, this shall include, but not limited to, modeling appropriate behavior in playgroup, baby café mini classes, community wide outreach, community collaborations and meetings, and the maintenance of accreditation standards.
Respite Care: Report any family that they believe may qualify for FAP respite care, in an effort to decrease risk for child abuse.
Provide recommendations for hours of respite care to be awarded and shall process the request once approved by FAPM.
All vouchers provided to the family shall be tracked and managed.
Required Reporting: Report all suspected child abuse, PSB-CY and unrestricted reports of domestic abuse and or violence.
Records Management Child Abuse Prevention Education: Provide FAP Child Abuse prevention and education approved training to New commanders, Troops, Mandated Reporters, (i.e providers, Chaplains caregivers with Child Youth and Social Services (CYSS), and Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DoDDS) personnel), community members and their families.
 Develop, market and arrange for April's Child Abuse Prevention Month activities to include: Community Wide Campaign, AFN advertisement staff support needed, training to all levels of the community, Kick off Ceremonies and community collaboration.
 FAP Emergency Placement Care (EPC) and Respite care program.
Responsible for all administrative aspects of the EPC and be the EPC Coordinator of Services (in the Vicenza area) including provider recruitment, training development, training, background check coordination, home visitation, emergency placement, interviewing, marketing, and file maintenance.
When EPC placement is warranted, assist the FAPM or designee with interagency coordination of paperwork and complete FAP vouchers for families that qualify for respite care program.
Responsible for providing the training, marketing and administrative functions of the EPC program for Camp Darby (through online support).
Development of FAP Special Programs: The FAP program is an ever changing and developing program that offers support based on risk and needs of the individual community.
This is accomplished through the Garrison Commander's priorities and community risk identification as well as new information on programs as determined by HQ.
FAP Special programs are programs developed to support a specific issue, population at risk or event to help minimize the risk of child abuse to the community.
Provide quarterly assessments to COR/FAPM prior to Family Advocacy Committee/ Fatality Review Committee (FAC/FRC) meetings to identify trends within program.
Coordinate the annual Child Abuse Prevention Month which will include: Kick off Ceremony, Weekend Community Event, Specialized training on annual theme, professional training, marketing, oversight of educational/give away materials required for event support, planning and booking of facilities, and updated community training.
Ensure that at least one of the four events shall be hosted in collaboration with other on post agencies or professionals.
Plan and engage in other monthly local and national campaigns to include: Teen Dating Violence, LGBTQ+ Month/Pride, Anti-Bully, Youth Safety online, Youth Anti Stalking, Youth Safe Touch and healthy boundaries, JRB (Juvenile Review Board), MJRB (Military Justice Review Board), DoDEA ( Department of Defense Education Activity) wide events, CYS ( Child and Youth Services) programs, CR2, Deployment and other Community partnerships Maintenance of Training Binders Community Collaboration & Outreach Social Media Awareness Campaigns  APPLICATION PROCESS For more information, go to our website .  Upload your resume directly at https://french-consulting.com/careers .
