MARVEL, beneficiary of the EIC Tech to Market Venture Building Programme and backed by The National Research Council of Italy (CNR), is looking for an entrepreneurial profile with business acumen, startup experience, and knowledge in peptide technology to join the team and complement the technical expertise of the current founders.
About the project MARVEL has pioneered a cutting-edge peptide molecular technology poised to revolutionize Exosome Healthcare.
Currently, the field faces significant technical challenges, including a lack of standardized methodologies to integrate workflows across research, clinical, and industrial domains.
MARVELs innovative technology, with its unique design properties, offers a versatile solution adaptable to a wide range of applications, meeting the diverse needs of stakeholders and driving impactful advancements in exosome science.
Among the main project achievements are the ongoing discussions of a partnership agreement with a potential licensee, a patent granted in the EU, and additional patents pending approval in the US.
About the role and current project challenges As Entrepreneur in Residence, you will collaborate with the team for six months, creating a tandem with the project coordinator and future founder (Dr. Alessandro Gori) to consolidate and implement the business plan, including product value estimation and market analysis, IP negotiation, and mid- to long-term vision of how the company may evolve, ensuring that the spin-off will be fully functional and prepared for a smooth transition from academia to industry.
At the same time, you will validate the relationship with the founders to ensure you are building a cohesive and solid team.
What will be the main project challenges and milestones for the coming months?
MARVEL team is about to face important steps, that may prove cornerstone to sustain future evolution and growth: Company incorporation (Q4 2024).
Delivery of product prototypes for beta-testing, one dedicated to Exo analysis and one for Exo isolation (Q4 2024).
Complete FTO analysis (Q4 2024).
Memorandum of understanding for IP licensing with on-going partner (Q4 2024).
Complete updated business plan (Q1 2025).
First product launch incorporating MARVEL technology (Q2 2025).
Qualifications Experience Masters degree in business administration, economics, finance, or marketing and/or 5+ year of experience in business development.
Prior entrepreneurial experience will be highly valued.
Demonstrated experience in Healthtech projects / Biotech projects.
Demonstrated experience in public and private fundraising, whether in start-up or corporate context, ideally at European level.
Proficiency in spoken and written English and Italian.
