WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH Reporting to our Head of Growth Engineering, the Engineering Team Lead leads a dedicated squad of software engineers, and with support from QA (Quality Assurance) engineers, and UI/UX designers to deliver the team's roadmap.
This squad's mission is to work on Hostelworld's innovative website and deliver killer experiments and functionality directly to our customer base.
WHAT YOU'LL DO People Management Responsibilities: Team Leadership: You lead a team of engineers and are responsible for their careers, helping them achieve their goals and progress through the Hostelworld engineering career paths.
Team Morale and Engagement: You prioritise the morale and happiness of your team, engaging with them to analyse results from surveys like Have Your Say and Pulse and working to improve areas that matter to them.
Agile Practices: You own the Agile ceremonies that ensure your team operates at peak efficiency and fosters a collaborative environment.
Technical Responsibilities: Collaboration with Product and UX Teams: You work closely with these teams to create deliverable requirements that meet expected results.
Architectural Oversight: While anyone can make architectural decisions at Hostelworld, you are ultimately responsible for the quality of work and solutions, providing architectural vision and advice, and assisting your engineers in writing design documents.
Application Performance Monitoring: You maintain and extend APM dashboards to monitor the health of your services during and after deployments.
Full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC): Your team is responsible for the entire SDLC, from Pull Requests to container deployment on GCP, ensuring high reliability and observability.
Experiment Oversight: You ensure that your team's experiments are technically sound and aligned with product team objectives.
Website: Once customers reach the Hostelworld website, they will use features your team developed and is responsible for.

Main requirements Experienced Vue JS developer Experienced at debugging issues with JavaScript frontend frameworks (Vue & Nuxt preferable) Passion for software development and staying up to date on the latest trends within the frontend JavaScript community Knowledge of and experience in practicing Clean Code, Clean Architecture, SOLID principles, or similar.
