This position reports to Manufacturing Unit Manager.
Your role and responsibilities In this role, you will have the opportunity to manage a team of designers and engineers to deliver high quality, cost effective, and timely engineering solutions to customers. Each day, you will formulate plans and allocate resources to meet the agreed contractual and financial targets. You will also showcase your expertise by initiating, coordinating, driving, and overseeing team development and continual improvement of processes and procedures to strengthen the engineering and design capability. This is an on-site position based in Florence, SC, contributing to the Electrification Service division in the United States. You will be mainly accountable for:
Providing direction to the engineering team with a focus on functional safety, cybersecurity, on-time delivery, quality, and margin improvement.Ensuring the projects/operations value chain portfolio follows sound methodology and execution practices in accordance with internal standard procedures and that the projects are closed as per the contract specifications.Initiating, coordinating, driving, and overseeing continual improvement of processes and procedures to strengthen the engineering/design capability and efficiency, utilizing agile methodologies to reduce engineering lead time and enhance functional safety and cybersecurity.Driving team performance to ensure that the deliverables are met on time and as per the set contract specifications and safety, cybersecurity, and quality requirements.Qualifications for the role Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or similar) strongly preferred.8+ years of engineering experience required, with at least 3 years experience successfully leading/managing a team of engineers.Experience in project management work based on customer requirements, design goal(s), or problem statement.Strong proficiency in Microsoft Suite applications and related business and engineering software applications (CAD/AUTOCAD, Visio, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, etc.).Lean engineering and design for manufacturability mindset.Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt [SSGB or SSBB] certification is a plus.More about us ABB's Service Division partners with our customers to improve the availability, reliability, predictability, and sustainability of electrical products and installations.
