Fraunhofer Italia with headquarters in Bolzano (Italy) is hiring a new member for its research group "Machine Intelligence Development" within the department "Robotics & Intelligent Systems Engineering". This group focuses on the development of AI-based solutions mainly (but not limited to) applied to automation technology involving intelligent robots and systems.

Requirements: You have a M.Sc. degree in machine learning engineering or computer science. You work independently, systematically and have a high degree of commitment, creativity and team spirit. You have work experience (> 1 year) on AI-based enabling technologies e.g., RL, DL, in computer vision, robotics or automation. You have strong programming skills either in C++ or Python with hands-on experience with Machine Learning frameworks e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, and standard "data-science" libraries e.g., Pandas, Numpy, Scipy, Seaborn. You have basic knowledge of Git for version control. You speak either Italian or German and have proficiency in English. Nice to have: Fluent English. Experience with ML ecosystem tools e.g., Data Version Control (DVC), MLflow. Knowledge of MATLAB and Simulink. Knowledge of ROS (Robot Operating System) and experience with robotics systems. Your job: Your main activity will involve the development and the design of AI/ML solutions for application in the areas of e.g., industrial production plants, automation in construction and precision/automated farming. On the one hand, the emphasis will be on the development of application-oriented concepts and their implementation in cooperation with clients and, on the other hand, on further expanding the institute's scientific know-how in these areas.
As part of an interdisciplinary team, you will work on various research projects at the interface between science and practice, for both public and private clients.
