The Energy Market Analytics team is looking for a Energy Markets Modeling Analyst , to support the power price forecasting (PPF) services in Italy and work with our own-developed models and tools using fundamental, statistical, and artificial intelligence methods. DNV's power price forecasting activity is structured around a set of internal processes and tools that combine a fundamental approach (dispatch models) with statistical and artificial intelligence methods that aim to understand and replicate the market agents' interaction with both energy and ancillary services markets. The candidate will be integrated into a young and dynamic team that has a clear mandate to grow in terms of market coverage and scope of work.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities of the Modeling Analyst will be, among others and not limited to:
Energy System Modelling
Develop and continuously update sophisticated energy models to forecast electricity market trends and pricing, as well as to optimize the utilization of assets like battery energy storage systems. Develop and sustain advanced data mining tools designed to extract, process, and analyze large datasets. Ensure models are responsive to market dynamics and regulatory changes to provide accurate forecasts. Collaboration with Energy Market Analytics Consultants
Work closely with the Analytics team to integrate diverse data inputs into energy models. Facilitate the conversion of complex economic challenges into quantifiable and analyzable formats. To Be Successful in This Role You Need to Have:
Engineer degree (Electrical, Energy, Industrial) or Mathematician. 1 to 3 years of experience in energy (markets) modeling and in the Italian energy sector. Knowledge of electricity market modeling tools (preferably PLEXOS), programming languages (preferably Python), and Database (SQL). Very good language skills in English and Italian. Spanish is a plus.
