We are looking for an Energy and Sustainability Engineer to join our Sustainable Development Team within Arup Milan Office. You will work within a growing team with diverse backgrounds in architecture, engineering, urban planning, climate science and risk analytics, social sciences, and economics, in the vanguard of sustainable development and transformational change across a varied and impactful portfolio of master-planning, buildings, infrastructure, city and regional strategies, and advisory projects.
You will support our growing portfolio of projects, focusing on decarbonization studies and pathways, sustainability strategies, energy modelling, and environmental and wellbeing certifications on existing buildings and real estate portfolios, providing support on energy & HVAC topics, environmental certifications, and life cycle assessments.
Your role:
Energy modelling of new and existing buildings, considering both envelope and building services to support feasibility studies and cost analysis regarding building services and envelope. Energy and decarbonization strategies for buildings and asset portfolios. Low/zero carbon and energy strategies for masterplans and city-scale projects. Development of sustainability concepts in cooperation with other disciplines (e.g., architecture, façade, building services). Support during LEED/WELL certification process. Support in LCA analyses. Required:
Master's degree in energy, mechanical, industrial, and building engineering or similar. Energy modelling software (IES VE, Design Builder, Energy Plus, Trnsys, etc). Software plugin for energy/daylight analysis (e.g. Cove tool, Sefaira, ClimateStudio, etc). Revit (e.g. Rooms/Spaces, color plan, parameters modification, data extraction). Rhino/Grasshopper/Ladybug/Honeybee. Building services technologies (especially mechanical/air-conditioning services). Understanding of main aspects of low carbon strategies for buildings and masterplans. Understanding of main aspects of circular economy. Previous experience in LCA calculations. Italian standards/laws about sustainability and energy savings. 2-3 years of experience in the field. Good level of Italian and English. Able to work in multidisciplinary teams & systems thinking analytical capabilities. As a plus:
Net Zero carbon strategies for retrofit of existing buildings. CRREM & other decarbonisation pathways. Green Deal, EU Action Plan, EU Taxonomy, Fit for 55. Office package with focus on datasheets/Excel. Main aspects related to financial analysis as simple payback time, return on investment, capex, opex, etc. Accreditation or certification on energy aspects (EGE, EM, Certificatore, etc). Previous experience in LEED/WELL certifications. Second foreign language. International study/work experience. Rewards and Benefits
