GENERAL SUMMARY: Candidate assists in the successful operation of the department and must be a Paramedic. Successful operations include assessing the needs of the unit/service, developing long and short term plans, implementing plans, policies, and procedures, evaluating the plans, competency of staff, staffing/scheduling plan, financial planning; seeking organizational efficiencies and performance improvement issues. Provides leadership and guidelines to associates and upholds the organizational values and missions. Position is a role model for service excellence behaviors.

The community you'll be caring for: AdventHealth Redmond Rome's historical markers help document the city's history and gives insight into the culturally rich heritage. Population- 36,332 (2019 census) Developed as a regional center for the fields of medical care and education. In addition to its public-school system, it has several private schools. Higher-level educational institutions include private Berry College and Shorter University, and the public Georgia Northwestern Technical College and Georgia Highlands College. Largest city near the center of the triangular area defined by the Interstate highways between Atlanta, GA, Birmingham, AL, and Chattanooga, TN. The role you'll contribute: Captain position falls within rank structure under District Commander and will assure that duties assigned are carried through on shift. Duties for this position include: assurance that required duties of shift LT and Sergeant's are carried out to include daily inventory of supplies and pharmacy inventory and education of staff; assures trucks in District of responsibility are serviced and maintained; assure staff arrive and depart station on time; assuring trucks are checked/cleaned and ready for service, assuring daily station duties are complete; assuring staff issues and concerns are dealt with and escalated to next level of command as needed; assure safety of staff and patients; complete entry of incident reports and conduct investigations of incidents within first 24 hours; perform safety audit of stations/vehicles every shift; employee discipline and conduct investigations as directed by DC; assure efficient functioning of service for shift when DC is out or unavailable. Captains should also be prepared to provide education and meeting briefings to staff as directed by Director/DC. It is assumed that the Captain will complete instructor training in at least one discipline which benefits the organization. Captains will assure appropriate communication with staff, round with associates as directed and report up issues to DC. Captains will work with RI Officer to provide Quality assurance checks of paperwork assuring appropriate documentation, appropriate demographics, and practice parameter adherence. Will complete the random selection of five reports per shift from the prior shift and send results to RI Officer. This Position will control individual shift and area of EMS coverage with 24 hour call availability. The associate will assure appropriate coverage of assigned district and assure appropriate system status management (SSM) is performed. The associate will move resources as requested for SSM and mutual aid for other services while assuring appropriate response levels within their District. Captains will assure open lines of communication with other Districts and DC for shift awareness. The associate will work with local agencies to develop and maintain disaster response capabilities and operating guidelines; maintain open lines of communication; assist in daily operations as requested and assist in developing community action planning. The associate must cultivate and maintain community public relations with citizens, community members, leaders, volunteer agencies, and businesses. This relationship includes the seeking out and scheduling of special events as well as scene assessment for appropriate coverage. Actively communicates to other EMS staff and Command Staff to assure effective communication across all levels. Performs rounding of one associate per shift and reports back to District Commander and Director. To set example and be a role model for other EMS personnel by not participating in poor behaviors, rather living the CARE values. Will be accountable to exemplifying excellent service behavior to patients, clients, visitors, physicians, co-workers, vendors; show courtesy, personalized attention, respect, compassion and timely responsiveness to all customers at all times. Employee participates in regular drills and special events to assure adequate staffing and appropriate training for staff. Employee actively seeks out education opportunities and takes responsibility in maintaining personal and state mandated education needs. Employee attends staff meetings, command meetings and required training on time and serves as an example of attendance.
