Hauptaufgaben
Incumbent operates, troubleshoots, and repairs or modifies a variety of electronic items of equipment that includes, inter-alia, various makes, models, and configurations of radio transmitters/receivers color and black and white video cameras with audio recording. Battery and electrically powered cameras, radar system, intrusion detection devices, television receivers. He/she evaluates that the potential damage was caused by operator neglect. Interprets diagnostics or a practical knowledge of electronics theory, isolates the cause of malfunctions down to one or more of the numerous circuits contained in the devices, the specific part (e.g., transistor, capacitor, resistor, diode) within the circuits, and/or the mechanical components therefore (e.g., gears, shafts, springs). In this regard, assesses the effects of various circuits on one another and, as appropriate, the interfacing of end-items which are connected to perform particular functions. Repairs or modifies defective equipment, selects, aligns, replaces, and precision solders or otherwise connects complete circuits boards, transistors, resistors, capacitors, diodes, integrated circuit, coils, filters, wiring, meters, and other items, ensuring functional and operational compatibility between linear electronic equipment working in tandem (e.g., teletypewriters or radios and peripheral devices), as appropriate. As need be, precision aligns, or replaces defective mechanical parts (small gear assembles, shafts) to render the equipment fully operational, selecting and installing substitute parts as needed. Makes specified modification to equipment based on detailed modification work orders received from higher levels within the agency and conversely, reports recurring equipment failure problems to management personnel for subsequent analysis by engineers. Test operates equipment repaired or modified to ensure that precise standard values are achieved.
Tour of duty is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday from 8.00 to 17.00, including a 1-hour uncompensated lunch break.

1. ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION;
2. KNOWLEDGE OF EQUIPMENT ASSEMBLY, INSTALLATION, REPAIR, ETC.;
3. USE OF TEST EQUIPMENT: ELECTRONICS;
4. THEORY OF ELECTRONICS;
5. ABILITY TO USE HAND AND POWER TOOLS - ELECTRONICS;
6. TROUBLESHOOTING (ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT);
7. ABILITY TO SUGGEST AND APPLY NEW METHODS;
