Job Purpose To support activities assigned with the scope of Roma Plant continuous improvement applied in the Engineering & Maintenance Electrical area with special focus on the processes in maintenance and machinery performance. The person should be able to develop and carry out autonomously his activities with supervision from coordinator. Able to manage for new products, utilities management, machines installation, optimization and improvement with focus on promotion and activation of smart engineering solutions. Final goal is to enhance Roma Plant/Advanced Workshop processes effectiveness, efficiency and product leveraging on systematic application of data-driven methodologies/risk assessments in order to ensure full compliance with Regulations, Customers and Company requirements with the ultimate goal of achieving superior quality all across the value chain.
Main Responsibility Roadmap Implementation:
Design and maintain the software as well as the hardware architecture for industrial machines in the field of tire manufacturing. Knowledge of control algorithms for PLC based systems, HMI design and implementation, electrical diagrams design and implementation, instrumentation and sensor interface.
Engineering Support to New Process:
To join cross-functional teams for machines capability at the early product design phase. Develop measurement technologies, control strategies, information systems, and Engineering methods that achieve ambitious targets.
Problem Solving:
Problem solving based on data analysis; provide guidance to determine root cause and recommend potential solutions. Interface with internal and external groups to ensure that proper definition of expectations and that appropriate assurance techniques.
Risk Reduction and Continuous Improvement:
Perform root cause analysis of maintenance issues using advanced problem-solving tools (like Lean Six Sigma, beta risk, skills evaluation, etc.). Recommend and implement simple cost-effective permanent corrective actions. Promote horizontal extension and reinforce maintenance systems to identify and reduce risks of machine breakdown and assure compliance to all requirements.
Reporting:
Timely issuing and/or updating relevant Operative Procedure. Periodical reporting on activities status to management.
Education Degree in Electrical, Controls or Mechatronic Engineering.
Languages Fluent English is required - Other EU language is a plus.
Core Competency Skills PLC/HMI: Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Siemens. Understanding of Hydraulics/Pneumatics/ Electrical schematics as well as AC Drives and Motion Controls. Software Design and Development. Understanding of various communication protocols (Profibus, Ethernet IP, etc.). Desirable Skills One or more of the below competences/skills will be a plus:
Project Management Problem Solving Quality tools for problem solving (5Why, 8D, Fishbone, etc.) 6 SIGMA Tire design Tire advanced technical Knowledge (Tire Features, Performances and Mechanics) Data analysis knowledge on Tire technology / tire manufacturing process ISO/TS 16949-IATF-VDA 6.3 core tools (FMEA, PPAC, SPC, APQP, MSA) Soft Skills Open mind and flexibility, ability to interact with people, ability to work under pressure, good communication skills. Positive mindset and win-win approach will be key ingredient for the success in this role, in order to translate daily challenges into new business opportunities. Able to understand problems from customer perspective and manage them with self-confidence and autonomy. The position requires a structured and disciplined working approach to successfully manage daily work, special projects and critical situations.
Travel The position requires availability to travel (in Europe or worldwide) at Bridgestone facilities/suppliers.
Work Experience Previous working experience in the Tire Industry considered as a plus.
Driving License Car driving license is required.
Contract Full time. The position is based at the Technical Center (R&D) in Castel Romano – Rome (Italy).
