We are currently seeking an Automation & Process Control Specialist, directly reporting to Digital Plants Section Head to join our Engineering division team based in Rome, Italy.
About the Job You will work inside the Digital Plants Section, which is in charge mainly of:
Detailed design, test and commissioning of simple, complex and advanced regulatory process control strategies. Detailed design, test and commissioning of complex logics and sequences. Management of the supply and commissioning of Advanced Process Control (Multivariable) and Optimization systems. Management of the supply and commissioning of Operator Training Simulator (OTS) systems. Management of the supply and commissioning of Digital Application software (3D OTS/Augmented Reality, Digital Twin, IIoT, MES). You will be involved in different phases of each Project: FEED (Front End Engineering Design), EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) and Revamping Projects.
The role and responsibilities may include but are not limited to: Study of process operation and process control requirements and definition of suitable simple, complex and advanced regulatory control strategies to be implemented at DCS. Definition of basic and complex logics/sequences (logic diagrams and flowcharts) to be implemented at DCS/ESD. Definition of advanced process control strategies based on process operation and optimization targets. Provide technical assistance during DCS/ESD configuration and testing phases (FAT) of simple, complex and advanced regulatory control strategies as well as logics/sequences at Vendors' workshops and during Site Commissioning phase. Timely and qualitative preparation of technical specifications and requisitions for Operator Training and Advanced Process Control systems in coordination with other disciplines. Timely and qualitative preparation of technical specifications and requisitions for Digital application systems in coordination with other disciplines. Technical evaluation of bids to ensure that contractual technical specifications are met by the suppliers. Ensure proper communication with Vendors and Clients and technical follow up of the orders. Ensure proper communication with Process Department and other engineering disciplines (Instrumentation and Control, Machinery, Heaters and Boilers, Electrical) for management of interfaces. Supervise and coordinate the activities of a small group of engineers (internal and/or external). Review Vendor's documents. Adhere to the committed man-hours and budget. Ensure timely reporting on engineering and requisitioning activities to the Lead Discipline Engineer (if any) and to the Section Head. Meet Quality and HSE objectives of the project. Interface with other discipline specialist engineers and possibly project support functions such as procurement and planning. Provide guidance and mentoring to more junior engineering employees. You will have the opportunity to do business trips to attend technical meetings with Clients or Suppliers, visit Vendor workshops, move to other Technip Energies operating centers and join our colleagues overseas. Occasionally you will also have the opportunity to follow up engineering activities related to the Instrumentation and Automation discipline directly on our sites, supporting erection, pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up activities.

About You We'd love to hear from you if your profile meets the following essential requirements:
Previous experience of at least 3-6 years in detailed engineering and design for Refinery / Gas / Power / Renewables / Infrastructure projects in a similar position. Chemical Engineering Degree (preferred). Knowledge of process units operation, with at least 2-3 years of experience in process design or similar. Knowledge of general Instrumentation and Automation (DCS/ESD) principles. Knowledge of safety interlocks, various machineries and equipment controls and logics. Fluent in English. Computer literate. Capability to perform its work on time with the required quality level. Communication skills and team spirit. Availability to international mobility for either short or long term assignment. Nice to have: Knowledge/experience in Advanced Process Control. Knowledge/experience in Operator Training Simulator. Knowledge/experience in MES (Manufacturing Execution System) applications and Digital Twin. Knowledge/experience in Process modelling and Simulation. Knowledge/experience of DCS basic configuration criteria and Vendor's proprietary configuration blocks. Knowledge/experience in Automation Systems architecture general principle and Hardware design. Knowledge/experience in Site Operations and/or Automation Systems revamping/upgrades. What's next? Forecast Starting Date: 1st quarter 2024.
