Increase the Impacts of Service Delivery and Visibility of ICCROM to Member States and Heritage Communities
Period of internship: 1 MAR 2025-31 MAY 2025 Brief Description of the ProgrammeICCROM's mission is to provide Member States with the best tools, knowledge, and skills and to enable an environment in which to preserve their cultural heritage in all of its forms, for the benefit of all people.
One of our primary aims is to provide training and research tools for implementation to strengthen the professional community.
ICCROM holds didactic collections generated for our training activities since the 1970s.
With the support of the Records and Archives Office, the Programmes Unit seeks to organize, inventory and preserve these collections.
Interns will have a chance to learn and contribute to increasing the use and accessibility of didactic collections.
Purpose of the RoleUnder the supervision of a staff member, the intern is called upon to assist in enhancing the overall activities of the chosen Programme/Project/Service.
More specifically, the intern shall contribute to:
Arrange and inventory ICCROM didactic collections, dealing with different materials such as paper, wood, metal, stone, mural painting, photography, anthropological items, etc.Perform basic preservation activities, such as re-housing in protective enclosures and removing damaging containers.Learning GoalsAs a capacity-building organization, our aim is to offer interns the unique opportunity to assist our staff on international projects, meet other interns and research fellows, interact with heritage professionals from all over the world and stimulate their intellectual curiosity.
In particular, the intern will have the following learning goals:
To master collections management and inventorying to establish physical and intellectual control over the materials to facilitate their access.To develop self-confidence in doing relevant conservation practices.Improve management skills, stay organized, and complete assignments.Required Qualifications:Education Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in collections management and preservation.Certifications in archival management will be considered as an asset.Experience Previous experience in collections management and preservation.Use of collections description software.Skills and Knowledge Knowledge of collections management systems, as well as collections preservation measures.Communication skills to share and engage with colleagues and stakeholders.Collaboration and teamwork skills to work effectively with others: embracing change positively, encouraging open dialogue, being a behaviour model, staying curious, and inviting healthy debate.Flexibility skills to adapt to change, adjust quickly and undertake varying tasks.Languages English and French are the working languages of ICCROM.
The knowledge of any other language is an added advantage.
RemunerationYour round-trip travel costs to and from Rome, your living costs, including accommodation, and any other expenses, will not be covered by ICCROM.
