YOUR TEAM You will be working in a multi-disciplinary group, where researchers from a range of scientific and engineering backgrounds collaborate to create novel solutions to key problems in robotics.
The Advanced Robotics Research Unit focuses on an innovative, multidisciplinary approach to robot design and control, and the development of novel robotic components and technologies for applications in medical, surgical and rehabilitation robotics, exoskeletons, manipulation and dexterous manipulators, industrial automation, inspection robotics, and robots for hazardous environments.
The candidate will collaborate in the design, construction, and testing of a prototype mobile robot equipped with a long reach robotic arm, customized end effectors, and a reconfigurable structure.
Your main responsibilities will be:
Design and development of mechanical parts for robots and equipment. Continuous improvement of robot performance and robustness, aiming at reaching TRL 6. Perform hardware prototype tests. Measuring and evaluating robot performance by carrying out lab testing and data analysis. Robot maintenance and assembly of new mechanical parts. ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS A (recently obtained) Master's degree in Robotics, Mechanical, Aerospace or Electronics Engineering, or Physics. Good knowledge of CAD software, modelling and drawing, preferably PTC-Creo. Experience with mechanical systems. Experience in mechanical assembling. Experience with mechatronics and/or electronics. Very good manual skills and affinity with laboratory environment. Good command in spoken and written English. ADDITIONAL SKILLS Experience with electronics and hardware. Coding with C/C++, Matlab or Python. ROS2, Robot operating system. Knowledge of Linux Operating system. Strong problem-solving attitude. Spirit of innovation and creativity. Hands-on work attitude.
