THE ROLE The Data Scientist primarily designs and develops Data Science products with the overarching goal of assisting internal auditors, and may be occasionally involved in internal audits when complex data analyses are required.
The Data Scientist gathers data-driven insights, which directly improve audit assignments to assess the soundness, adequacy and application of internal management and financial controls.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive) Explores, identifies, and acquires data sources to determine their suitability for risk assessments, audits, and investigations.
Establishes a close working relationship with members of the OIGA team and key clients to leverage Data Science methods to support their assurance activities.
Designs and develops Data Science products to reveal insights and provide an understanding of the data.
Promotes the use of Data Science solutions by organizing ad-hoc trainings to teach OIGA auditors how to best use visualizations developed within the team.
Designs and develops custom visualizations and presentations to reveal the findings of analysis for clients.
Participates in internal audits and investigations, assisting and performing tasks under the supervision of auditors and investigators.
Guides, trains, and supervises more junior staff with function.
QUALIFICATIONS KEY REQUIREMENTS Advanced University degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Astrophysics, or a related field.
5 years of relevant, progressively responsible experience in Data Science and/or Data Engineering.
Fluency (level C) in English language.
Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or Portuguese.

Mobility is a core contractual requirement in WFP.
This position is classified as "non-rotational".

The selected candidate will be required to relocate to Rome, Italy.
