The Engineering Operations Facility Manager (AWS Data Centre) is responsible for managing all aspects of the data centre infrastructure performance within a specific location. This role requires a driven, self-managed individual who demonstrates initiative and proactively seeks solutions.
Key Job ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be accountable for:
Setting and maintaining the highest standard for safety and actively promoting a world-class safety culture.Managing key performance metrics for large scale Data Centres across multiple sites, driving improvements while delivering performance against said metrics.Delivering 100% uptime on all customer-supporting infrastructure.Strategic planning and execution of all corrective and preventative maintenance activities on mission-critical infrastructure.Managing strong technical teams and ensuring operational excellence and career development.Successful delivery of strategic projects on critical infrastructure.Successful delivery of facility infrastructure build-out and retrofit in existing and new locations.Managing vendor performance by setting high standards, driving accountability, and conducting regular performance reviews.Adopting and planning corporate risk strategy.Planning and executing Critical Event Response readiness.Managing relationships within complex organizational matrices and cross-functional teams.BASIC QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant Engineering discipline, or demonstrable equivalent (lesser qualification + equivalent work experience).5+ years' experience in a high-volume mission-critical operational environment (e.g., data center, healthcare, high technology manufacturing).First-hand knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership techniques, and operational performance.Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.Full EU/IT driving license.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS10 years relevant industry experience.Demonstrated key electrical and mechanical competencies and theory.Knowledge of safe electrical practices according to guidelines set by relevant electrical safety supervisory bodies.Strong working knowledge of Data Center infrastructure, including UPS, backup generator systems, and mechanical-room infrastructure.Fundamental knowledge of network design and layout, as well as low/high voltage cabling.Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
