**POSITION SCOPE**
The Credit Analyst will assist the Credit Manager in managing and maintaining the customer credit program in accordance with United Malt Group's policies and procedures, including risk mitigation for the North American receivable portfolio.
This position serves as the first level of escalation for accounts in which Account Resolution Representatives are unable to resolve aged balances that are not compliant with customer terms.
The Credit Analyst communicates with and monitors customers at risk of being assigned to outside collections, performs credit analysis on new and existing customers including recommending necessary adjustments to credit limits, and provides operational insight on customer shipments to ensure required authorizations are in place within risk tolerances.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Utilize, and improve, standard operating procedure (SOP) credit limit tool(s)
- Work with third-party vendors on credit reporting
- Work with trade credit insurance policies in Canada and USA to request credit limits, review credit limit decisions
- Notify credit manager when insured customers near maximum extension period or exceed terms
- Improving systems and procedures to mitigate reliance on key individuals
- Implement process improvements to improve team effectiveness
- Implement effective risk management mechanisms for export sales
- Assist with maintaining minimum bad debt exposure.
- Assist with audit requirements, as requested.
- Assist with review of credit practices to ensure sales teams can compete effectively.
- Assist with risk management of North American customer portfolio.
- Incorporate risk management tools to minimize overall risk of North American customer portfolio.
- Assist with implementation of system improvements to automate the risk management function.
- Provide risk analysis of existing and new customer relationships.
- Assist with management of accounts on hold due to insufficient credit limits.
- Assist with bad and doubtful debt proposals to management.
- Propose credit limit and terms as outlined by department SOP.
- Enforce policies related to export customer risk, policy limits, and sales declarations
- Assist with implementation of monthly debtor forecasting model to forewarn of pending credit limit concerns.
- Conduct weekly and/or monthly reporting of late debtors - breach reporting.
- Report risk concerns related to North American customer portfolio to Credit Manager.
**SKILLS & ABILITIES**
- Proficient computer skills, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Microsoft Teams, GP or AX Dynamics experience preferred, but not required.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
Must be able to communicate effectively and work well in a team environment.
- Expert knowledge of Financial Statement Analysis, Risk Assessment, and Security Instruments.
- Ability to demonstrate strong internal controls.
- Must be able to work cross boundaries with ability to negotiate and influence key decision stakeholders.
**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE**
- A degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or equivalent combination of work experience is required.
- A few years of credit analysis work experience, preferably through a multinational company.
- Experience in assisting with the management a credit function.
- Desirable:
- Change management and process improvement experience.
- Direct experience or previous exposure to new ERP implementations.
- Experience managing results through measurable metrics.
- Ability to work in office 2-3 days per week and remote the remainder of the days
