Corporate Counsel, EU Strategic Compliance InitiativesAmazon is seeking a Corporate Counsel to support compliance initiatives across Amazon's EU Stores.
This role will counsel business leaders on complex issues including the future structure of the business, enabling third party sellers to provide a great experience to customers, and implementing product compliance and other strategic laws affecting Amazon's stores.
They will lead across EU geographies and Amazon business lines to scope and advise of new requirements, and collaborate with impacted stakeholders as a key member of the business decision-making team to develop efficient, creative solutions.This attorney will:Counsel on regulatory matters from product compliance to fundamental rights.Collaborate with other stakeholders to develop risk assessment mechanisms and design and implement scalable mitigation processes.Work hands-on with the business as lead counsel advising of requirements, risks, and prioritization.Communicate strategic impacts and recommendations to senior business leadership.Key job responsibilities:The successful candidate will advise the business responsible for third party sellers selling on Amazon's EU stores on all legal issues affecting that business.
The leader hired for this role will help shape the design of the business, help selling partners to grow, and ensure we continue to delight customers.We are looking for candidates with a background in advising corporate clients on regulatory obligations and extensive, varied experience advising commercial and/or retail sector clients.
Additionally, we are seeking candidates who are innovative, progressive, extremely hands-on, and highly customer-obsessed professionals.
Developing innovative solutions to novel legal problems is part of our daily business.The role can be based in Amazon's offices in Luxembourg, Madrid, Milan, Munich or Berlin.
Some travel will be required.Minimum Requirements:Outstanding academic qualification.A minimum of over 5+ years post-qualification legal experience at a law firm and/or a successful transactional background, including extensive commercial and/or retail experience.In-house experience is a plus.Experience in product compliance or online marketplace obligations is valuable.Ability to work independently and demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations.Excellent communication, organizational, analytical, and computer skills.Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
