You will serve as a COMMUNITY LIAISON SPECIALIST in the US Naval Support Activity of NSA NAPLES DETACHMENT GAETA. This position has a selective placement factor that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: Are you fluent in English and Italian spoken and written languages, to the extent that you can act as a spontaneous interpreter/translator and can provide official written translations in both English and Italian?
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-09) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Analyzing Italian and American customs, traditions, and mannerisms, both military and civilian, to liaise between Officer-in-charge of NSA Naples Det Gaeta (OIC) and Italian Navy Installation Base Commander (IBC) and Host Nation authorities. Providing guidance to leadership on Italian political systems and the climate in the Gaeta area of Italy on engagement of local city hall authorities and community organizations to manage the US Navy's reputation in the area via the creation and completion of Community Relations (COMREL) events. Referencing Italian law, culture and customs to assist in resolution of legal problems of a military community. Interpreting military protocol and organizational structure to propose, plan, coordinate and execute official visits and social functions.
