Communications and Public Affairs Specialist EUR 50.000 - 70.000 This position is not currently funded and is contingent upon funding to Amentum. At this time, Amentum is seeking candidates to fulfill contingent roles. The expected award timeframe is Fall 2025. We are seeking a highly motivated Communications and Public Affairs Specialist to support the Strategic Communications and Public Affairs Team at the Forward Deployed Regional Maintenance Center (FDRMC) in Naples, Italy. This role will work directly under the supervision of the Director for Strategic Communication and Public Affairs to support both internal and external communications efforts across the command's portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in communication and public affairs, including writing, social media strategy, and visual content creation, with a proactive and self-starting attitude. Responsibilities Develop and implement social media strategies and create content for the command's social media platforms, including Facebook and LinkedIn. Create engaging graphics for social media using design tools such as Canva. Draft and edit articles, press releases, and feature articles for public distribution. Manage and monitor internal communications platforms, including Microsoft Teams. Prepare and draft internal communication documents, such as fact sheets, recruitment flyers, informational packets, and command briefs. Write ghost emails and assist with other internal communication needs. Engage with command personnel and external stakeholders to highlight activities and achievements. Develop and maintain a communications calendar and integrated schedules. Monitor daily news coverage across FDRMC's portfolio, including relevant trade publications and U.S. Fifth and Sixth Fleet news. Capture media content (photos/videos) of command operations or coordinate media coverage, ensuring compliance with operational security and safety requirements. Route public affairs products for review, including operational security, safety, and subject matter expert approvals. Provide support for emergency response communication needs when required. Travel to FDRMC detachment locations or other sites as needed to carry out duties (approximately 10-20%). Minimum Requirements At least 2 years of experience in strategic communications and public affairs. A Bachelor's Degree in a communications-related field (e.g., journalism, public relations, public affairs, communications). Full proficiency in Microsoft Office/365 suite of applications. Strong working knowledge of AP Style, English grammar, and communication best practices. Demonstrated ability to create and manage online content and graphics, with an understanding of good design principles. Knowledge of design tools such as Photoshop or Canva is preferred but not mandatory. Must have an active secret US government clearance. Note: US citizenship is required to maintain a secret clearance. Preferred Qualifications (not required) Experience in government, military, defense, or corporate communications.
