Position Summary: The College Bridge Coordinator will support the implementation of the Petey Greene Program (PGP) College Bridge program at SCI Phoenix. The program aims at helping students to develop the writing, reading, and numeracy skills necessary to pursue employment and post-secondary education while fostering a sense of educational self-efficacy and self-confidence.
The College Bridge program consists of a math course and a writing, reading, and critical thinking course. Both courses are taught by instructors recruited by the PGP among faculty and advanced graduate students from local colleges and universities, supported by volunteer tutors, who are typically undergraduate students and members of the community.
The PGP College Bridge Coordinator will be responsible for assisting PGP staff in recruiting and managing the College Bridge volunteers. Prior to the beginning of the semester, the PGP College Bridge Coordinator will select prospective tutors, vetting and interviewing applicants in collaboration with the PGP Philadelphia Regional Manager. During the semester, the PGP College Bridge Coordinator will monitor student and volunteer attendance, working with PGP staff to provide debrief opportunities for volunteers. They will conduct regular virtual check-ins with tutors and instructors and facilitate the exchange of information between the two groups. Additionally, they will help track tutor and instructor feedback to ensure that it is submitted in a timely manner.
This is a remote position with occasional trips to the Department of Corrections facility in Collegeville, PA required. This is a two-year, grant-funded position and subject to grant funding.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesSupport PGP staff in recruiting new volunteers and responding to applications with next steps.Vet applications and conduct volunteer interviews, in collaboration with PGP staff.Determine volunteers' semester tutoring schedule, in collaboration with PGP partner organizations and with support of PGP staff.Support in the process of getting volunteers cleared to enter SCI Phoenix.Assist in confirming that volunteers complete all onboarding requirements before beginning tutoring and sending reminders when necessary.Coordinate weekly transportation for volunteers.In collaboration with PGP, hold weekly meetings to provide follow-up trainings for College Bridge tutors and facilitate communication between tutors and instructors.Monitor volunteer attendance forms and course log and follow up with any necessary support or to provide reminders about not submitted attendance forms.Communicate regularly with volunteers, especially if an incident occurs or a volunteer misses a tutoring session, providing support as needed and flagging issues when appropriate.Ensure that all volunteers and students complete intake forms and evaluation.Manage volunteer data, including schedules, attendance, and feedback, through Salesforce. Input data from student intake forms to spreadsheets.Respond promptly to emails from volunteers, university faculty and staff, and fellow staff.Perform other duties and assist with projects as assigned.Minimum QualificationsFormal Education:Bachelor's degreeWork Experience:Experience working with justice-involved populationsWork Skills:Strong communications skills and ability to represent program core principles.Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task.Ability to creatively problem-solve and demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of diverse stakeholders from corrections officers and prison staff to academic administrators and university faculty and students.Demonstrated experience using: Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat; Google Drive and Google Calendar.Valid driver's license.Eligibility to be cleared as a volunteer in PA Department of Corrections (PADOC) facilities.Strong people skills and ability to network and build partnerships at both grassroots and institutional levels.Independent, self-starting work ethos as demonstrated by past achievements.Preferred QualificationsExperience working in post-secondary education.Familiarity with the PADOC's regulations, policies, and culture.Physical Requirements and/or Unusual Work HoursSpecial Message to Applicants:
