The role you'll contribute: The Surgical Technologist II is a member of the health care team who performs technical support in the perioperative period under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse according to the accepted clinical standards of care.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical proceduresScrubs, gowns, and glovesSets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedure and displays knowledge of procedure and patient positioningPerforms appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operating and before the incision is closedGowns and gloves surgeon and assistantsHelps in draping sterile fieldPasses instruments, etc., to surgeon during procedureMaintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedurePrepares sterile dressingsCleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilizationAssists other members of team with terminal cleaning of roomAssists in prepping room for the next patientWorks with RN and team members to provide safe patient careHandles surgical specimens with 100% accuracyRecognizes/responds immediately to emergency situations appropriatelyDisplays awareness and participates in cost effective behaviors endorsed by the organizationPerforms duties in a timely manner, communicates all updates/delays to team members/team leaderCommunicates supply problems appropriately, restocking supplies for the unit as neededReadily accepts assignments or changes in assignment, maintains a positive attitude if asked to float to another room/unitWillingness to change schedule to meet unit staffing needsIncreases clinical knowledge/skills independently, working with unfamiliar procedures/surgeons to expand and develop new skillsTakes responsibility for decisions, actions, and results, delivers on commitmentsQualifications The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed: High School Graduate/GEDSuccessful completion of accredited Surgical Technology ProgramCurrent CSTCPR certification at time of employment or within one month of employmentThis facility is an equal opportunity employer and complies with federal, state and local anti-discrimination laws, regulations and ordinances.
