Regular inspection of centres provides an opportunity for Cambridge English to confirm and publicize its commitment to quality as a leading service provider and to ensure that a universal standard for the conduct of its examinations is maintained.
The centre inspections programme also provides Centre Exams Managers and their staff the opportunity to benefit from the dissemination of best practices and to comment upon issues affecting the administration of the examinations.
You must reside in Italy and have the right to work in Italy. At present, we are only seeking applications from the below regions:
Naples area We welcome your application to become a Cambridge English Inspector. Please note that this is not a full-time role as inspections are conducted on an ad-hoc basis.
Requirements are that applicants have:
Significant experience in the field of ESOL, for example as a teacher, administrator, etc. Educated to degree level or equivalent. Good availability and flexibility throughout the year, including busy periods, to be able to travel at short notice. Access to the Internet and an email account which is checked regularly. No conflicting interest in any Cambridge English centres that cannot be overcome. Spoken and written English good enough to understand documentation in English and to participate in meetings and briefings held in English (must have at least C2 level). Qualifications, skills and experience:
An Inspector must be able to discharge duties in the medium of English and local language(s) (if applicable). Show by their previous employment history that significant work has been undertaken in related fields and provide the details of at least two referees if requested. Have commitment to high standards. Have the ability to plan their work effectively. Have effective interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface at centre level. Work impartially within the local Cambridge English examination centre network and honour confidentiality. Commit sufficient time to the duties of an Inspector, including attendance at regional training meetings, completing required training and standardization activities. Display method and order in their working practices. Develop and apply knowledge and understanding of current regulations relating to the administration and conduct, at centre level, of Cambridge English examinations. The responsibilities of an Inspector include:
Liaising with, and complying with instructions issued by, the Cambridge English representative for the region on all inspection issues, including administrative timescales. The carrying out of a number of inspections as allocated by the Cambridge English representative for the region. Providing constructive and supportive feedback to Cambridge English centres. The undertaking of occasional pre-approval visits to applicant centres as requested. Attending training and coordination events for local Inspectors as required. The conducting of Cambridge English business in a manner which upholds the status of the Board and its examinations. Personal qualities and inter-personal skills:
Inspectors are expected to be able to: Complete tasks accurately and in sufficient detail. Communicate effectively with colleagues and centre staff (for example, when giving feedback). Act professionally at all times. Have suitable personal presentation. Be punctual. Respond positively to feedback and accept change. Be responsible, conscientious, and treat others with respect. Speak other languages, especially for the countries where they will carry out inspections. Have experience of handling confidential information. Be familiar with Cambridge English exams. Be familiar with any exam administration and/or invigilation. Have a high commitment to quality assurance. Be willing to travel long distances, at short notice, and to travel by the most economical method. We offer:
