General Position Description CAW Mechanical Technician Responsibilities Mechanical system demolition as required for renovation projects.
Ductwork onsite fabrication, installation, and insulation.
Fire protection piping layout and installation.
Hydronic piping layout and installation.
Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems, Fan Coil Unit (FCU) systems and Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) ceiling cassette layout, piping connections and installation.
Chiller and AHU layout/installation.
Split-pack refrigerant system installations.
Test and balance air systems and align and balance equipment.
Safely use various hand and power tools.
Comply with all safety standards and regulations of USACE EM-385-1-1.
Inspect, troubleshoot, and conduct testing of mechanical systems and equipment.
Installation of physical security requirements (man-bars, expanded metal) per ICD/ICS 705.
Construction and installation of RF Shielding STC Mitigation equipment/materials per ICD/ICS 705, UFC 4-010-05 and Best Practices Guideline For Architectural Radio Frequency Shielding.
Ability to work with and assist all other trade technicians on project site.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: A bachelor's degree, OR; An associate's degree plus 4 years of recent specialized experience, OR; A High School degree and 8 years of recent specialized experience.
Current DoD Security Clearance or the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required.
Security Clearance Requirements – must be a US Citizen.
U.S. Federal government experience required.
Must have experience completing complex construction projects.
Demonstrated ability to deal with different variables of a project such as difficult client and/or complexity of scope of work.
Extensive knowledge of various areas of construction for trades coordination.
Working knowledge and implementation of ICD/ICS 705 and UFC 4-010-05.
Working knowledge of the Safety Requirements of USACE EM385-1-1.
Exceptional teamwork, communication, and people skills are essential.
Proficient with renovations and new construction projects.
Valid 10 year passport with at least 2 years of remaining validity and/or a valid 4 year passport with at least 2 years of remaining validity preferred.
