We are seeking an experienced Carbon Offsetting Specialist to join our team in Maputo (Mozambique). This role requires a highly motivated individual with expertise in carbon offset projects, environmental sustainability, and related regulatory frameworks. As a consultant, you'll work closely with key stakeholders to drive impactful initiatives and support our mission toward environmental responsibility.
Job Description: Supervise and lead a team of carbon offset project coordinators, ensuring effective teamwork, clear communication, and a collaborative work environment.Develop and implement strategies for identifying, evaluating, and selecting carbon offset projects in alignment with organizational goals and international standards.Coordinate and monitor the implementation of carbon offset projects, including data collection, verification, and reporting.Ensure compliance with relevant international standards and protocols such as the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), Climate Action Reserve (CAR), and Gold Standard.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to establish and maintain partnerships for carbon offset initiatives.Conduct regular project performance evaluations and provide guidance to project coordinators to ensure project objectives are met.Stay updated on industry trends, policies, and regulations related to carbon offset activities to ensure compliance and best practices.Prepare reports, presentations, and documentation to communicate project progress, achievements, and challenges to stakeholders.Support capacity building initiatives by providing training and mentorship to project coordinators and other team members.Contribute to the development of innovative strategies and initiatives to enhance the organization's carbon offset activities.Location: Maputo, Mozambique (onsite)
Start Date: December 2024
Working Schedule: 10 hours per day, 5 days per week
Rotation: 120 days ON / 15 days OFF (inclusive of travel days)
Duration: 12 months, subject to extension
