We are looking for a Calibration and Validation System Engineer on behalf of and in support to our client for their location in Rome, Italy. The selected candidate should show integrity and professionalism. Please note, the successful candidate will be employed by ATG Europe (or one of its subsidiaries). Furthermore, upon selection, they will be subject to a general security screening performed by an external provider (further information will be provided at interview stage).
The successful candidate will be tasked with, but not limited to:
Tasks and Responsibilities
Following and controlling the activities during Operations and Commissioning phases of the IRIDE EAG2 constellation satellites; Interface with the FOS and PDGS teams; Define the Calibration and Validation tasks, algorithms, and plan, including on-ground an in-orbit activities; Support the IRIDE EAG2 commissioning phase; Support the IRIDE EAG2 products calibration and validation; Review of customer and industry documentation, during the various Project phases; Continuously assess evolving user requirements regarding the mission, in terms of data quality, calibration and validation; Propose innovation (where possible) in the area of EO product algorithm development, and for P/L calibration and validation; Support the testing, integration and validation activities; Documentation and software deliverables review and configuration control; Contribute to the coordination meetings and reviews, both internal and with external participation; Generate minutes of project-related meetings; Generate technical notes to support the projects as needed. University PhD or master's degree in physics, Engineering or Earth Sciences with particular emphasis on EO optical instruments, data processing algorithms, calibration and validation; Good knowledge of Opto-electronics; In-depth knowledge of Optical satellite remote sensing; Strong knowledge of image analysis, GIS technology and applications and programming. Demonstrated capabilities in EO data processing and applications (specially with Optical Multispectral and Hyperspectral payloads); Experience in development and maintenance of ground infrastructure and/or software systems; Experience in space mission, spacecraft and/or payload operations; Scientific programming (e.g., MATLAB, Python, IDL); Expertise in retrieval of geophysical variables over sea and/or landmasses is an asset; Experience in big data processing, cloud computing and computer science is advantageous; Experience of in-situ data collection is advantageous; Fluent English, both written and spoken.
