Deadline Date: Friday 17 January 2025 Requirement: Senior Technician (ICT Systems) Location: Sigonella, IT Full Time On-Site: Yes Time On-Site: 100% Total Scope of the request (hours): 836 Required Start Date: 3 March 2025 End Contract Date: 31 December 2025 Required Security Clearance: NATO SECRET Duties and Role: Under the direction of Branch Head, the incumbent will perform duties such as the following: Follows standard approaches and established design patterns to create new designs for the systems or system components; Identifies and resolves minor design issues; Identifies alternative design options and seeks guidance when deviating from established design patterns; Specifies the technical configurations and components required for a small network or a network segment in a more complex infrastructure; Follows organisational architectures and standards; Configures the hardware and software environment as required by the integrated system; Produces integration test specifications, conducts tests and records and reports on outcomes; Diagnoses faults, makes records and reports on the results of tests; Produces system integration reports; Carries out agreed network maintenance tasks and specified operational configuration of network components; Establishes and diagnoses network problems/faults using the required troubleshooting methodology and tools; Uses network management software and tools to collect agreed performance and traffic statistics.
Installs and configures Desktop Services; Performs testing and evaluation of supported hardware and software (firmware and drivers); Takes part in a Duty Support Shift, which may operate on a 24/7 basis; Deputizes for higher grade staff, if required; Performs other duties as may be required.
Requirements Skill, Knowledge & Experience: The candidate must have a currently active NATO SECRET security clearance Higher vocational training in a relevant discipline with 2 years post-related experience.
Or a secondary educational qualification with 4 years post-related experience; At least 2 years' experience in configuring, troubleshooting and optimizing routers, switches, firewalls, and other hardware/software networking elements; At least 2 years hands-on experience supporting network cabling technologies; At least 2 years recent practical experience within a CIS Service Operations environment; At least 2 years recent practical experience of configuring, installing and troubleshooting industry standard desktop Windows Operating Systems and Microsoft Office applications; Good analytical skills and problem-solving attitude.
Desirable Experience and Education: Knowledge of NATO and national information technology security policies and experience in installation, configuration, and maintenance of network based systems in accordance with NATO and/or national Security regulations; Experience in maintaining and operating NATO crypto equipment; Experience in working in a Service Desk environment; Certification or qualification in PC hardware repair and configuration; Formal training in Local Area Networks (LAN); Prior experience of working in an international environment comprising both military and civilian elements; Knowledge of NATO responsibilities and organization, including ACO and ACT.
Language Proficiency: A thorough knowledge of one of the two NATO languages, both written and spoken, is essential and some knowledge of the other is desirable.
NOTE: Most of the work of the NCI Agency is conducted in the English language.
