Join us in our Leaf team and you will be in charge of maintaining a proper leaf production schedule while ensuring constant monitoring of process quality and performance.
You will provide support to Buying and Processing Manager during quality and visual inspection of packed leaf performed by Regional Buying Manager and ensure proper level of processing controls in line with Leaf Best Practices while maintain internal records of activities executed.
Finally, you will support the Buying and Processing Manager in planning and projects executing as well as continuous local improvement initiatives while supporting Regional and global processing strategy.
Specific responsibilities include:
- PRODUCT QUALITY AND INTEGRITY:
- Plan, prepare and support processing controls (pre-season qualifications, in process verifications, weight verifications, other reporting verifications)
- Maintain templates for assessment and reporting
- Carry out detailed statistical analysis of data and report findings to support decision making process
- Maintain market KPIs up to date, contribute to interpretation and identification of issues/ improvement opportunities
- Perform equipment calibrations and maintain records
- BUYING SEASON:
- Execute preliminary verifications to ensure adequate preparation of Buying Stations
- Monitor green leaf moisture test results daily, highlight unusual trends and escalate where appropriate to the Processing Manager
- AGRONOMY:
- Support on project execution and field visits
- CROP PLANNING:
- Monitor and reconcile green leaf purchases to the production intention
- The reported green leaf crop yield, lamina yield, OTM generations and total usable products should be continuously monitored and compared to assumptions in the production intention.
- PRODUCTION SEASON ACTIVITIES:
- Monitor and report on daily basis production output by blend comparing current performances vs. standard blend sheets
- Prepare for the internal review the weekly processing report (i.e.
yield and quality analysis) to communicate the results to the Affiliate Leaf Controller on a monthly basis.
- At the end of processing season a weight reconciliation should be prepared and reviewed by Leaf Supervisor.
- Actively participate to the leaf stock counts
- PACKED LEAF QUALITY INSPECTION:
- Support Buying and Processing Manager and/or eventually Regional responsible during packed leaf inspection mainly for reports preparation
- COMPLIANCE:
- Ensure that a right level of protection is in place before dealing with external entities.
Prepare document meetings and business discussions with high quality minutes.
- Store information and records in easily searchable structures.
- Use visible tracking systems to document tasks status of own and project team's tasks and deliverables.
Who we're looking for:
- Graduation in Engineering, preferably in Agri-Food Technologies, Agroengineering, Biotechnology and Science, Biology, or related fields
- Available to travel throughout Italy and EU
- Minimum 2 years of experience with specific background in Operations (manufacturing or leaf processing)
- Proficient with Excel (vertical lookup, Pivot) and PowerPoint
- A valid driving license (owned at least from 12 months) and a valid working permit for EU are requested
- Italian native and fluent in English
- Strong communication skills and ability to understand different perspectives and stakeholders
What's 'nice to have':
- A PHD or Master in Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain is a great plus
- A previous experience in tobacco sector is a plus
- Strong analytical skills
- Agility to work in a complex and fluid environment with tight deadlines
- Team player, positive attitude and willingness to share competencies
- Entrepreneurship and attention to details
