DNV is seeking a highly motivated Business Lead to join our Transactions and Business Advisory team in Italy.
The team's presence spans a wide geography including Southern Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America.
Leveraging on knowledge of industry trends, regulatory frameworks, and financial analysis, the Business Lead will help clients navigate complex transactions, optimize business operations on the back of new technologies, and capitalize on growth opportunities.
The focus of the Business Lead in Italy will be financial institutions and banks operating out of Milan.
The role may however require international travel to support projects related to investments, sale or purchase of stakes in projects and portfolios of Italian customers.
Your daily responsibilities will include: Client Engagement and Relationship Management with the financial sector (banks, investors, financial institutions) and the energy sector (developers, owners, operators): Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, understanding their business objectives, challenges, and opportunities within the energy sector.
Lead client engagements, including due diligence, M&A transactions, market assessments, and business strategy development.
Cultivate and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring client satisfaction and repeat business opportunities.
Transaction Support and Due Diligence: Lead due diligence efforts for M&A transactions, asset acquisitions, and investment opportunities in the energy sector.
Coordinate and/or contribute to the evaluation of market, technical, operational, and regulatory risks associated with transactions, and provide recommendations to mitigate risks and maximize value.
Prepare due diligence reports and KPIs for clients and stakeholders.
Business Strategy and Advisory: Provide strategic advisory services on market entry, expansion, diversification, and portfolio optimization strategies.
Lead pre-feasibility studies and fit-for-purpose analysis for expanding or adopting new energy transition technologies (hydrogen, biofuels, e-fuels, etc.)
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions that address clients' strategic and operational needs.
Team leadership: Act as the focal point of the Transactions & Business Advisor team in Milan, and act as the local person for your local team members and other DNV teams in Milan for your team's services.
Support in the building of the team in Milan.
To be successful in this role you should bring: Bachelor's or master's degree in Engineering, Business and/or Finance from an accredited university or equivalent qualification.
Candidates with a demonstrated passion for Energy and (Renewable) Energy Technologies are preferred.
Experience in the energy sector of 12+ years, preferably also in energy transition technologies in the wider low carbon spectrum e.g.
wind, solar, green hydrogen, biomass, biogas, e-fuels, CCS.
More than 10+ years of experience in consulting with Energy companies up to investment and executive board levels.
Candidates currently holding a position as associate or associate partner in a recognized consulting company, or soon taking that step, are preferred.
Strong understanding of energy markets, including power, oil & gas, renewables, and utilities, as well as regulatory frameworks and industry dynamics.
Proven track record of leading client engagements, managing projects, and delivering high-quality results within budget and timeline constraints.
Proven experience with and passion for working with and leading teams of experts, synthesizing and integrating their inputs into decision-making information for the target customer groups.
