Business & Ed Program Specialist (Literacy Coordinator)Duties: The Literacy Coordinator, an administrative position reporting to the Director of Adult & Continuing Education, oversees Adult Literacy programming at Oneida, Rome, and Utica ACCESS sites.
This includes adult high school equivalency preparation (GED) and English as a Second Language (ESL) programs.
The coordinator recruits, onboards, and supervises/evaluates staff, serves as the primary point of contact for all staff, and provides feedback to enhance program quality and instruction.
Additionally, they plan and implement literacy program curricula, assessments, and professional development opportunities.
The coordinator monitors fiscal and data outcomes in accordance with local, state, and federal grant/allocation guidelines.
Collaborating with a team, they assist in developing marketing materials such as course catalogs and brochures, and coordinate staff participation at local career and job fairs.
Qualifications: A bachelor's degree in business or education is required.
Prior experience with state or federal grant-funded programs is preferred.
Candidates without P-12 teacher certification must meet the eligibility requirements for NYSED Adult Education Certification.
The candidate must also meet the civil service eligibility criteria for Business & Education PROGRAM Specialist.
Excellent communication and listening skills are essential, and candidates should be well-versed in Microsoft Suite.
They should also be prepared to work independently and as part of an effective team.
Location of Position: Utica ACCESS Site, Occasional travel to Oneida and Rome ACCESS Sites
Term of Employment: Full-time, 12-month
Salary: $65,000-$85,000 (Dependent on experience and qualifications)
