Position Overview: As a Business Developer, you will be responsible for sourcing and onboarding new Vendors. As a Key Account Manager, you will be in charge of maintaining, optimizing, and scaling existing Vendor relationships to meet and grow customer demand both within the market and across our International business. You will manage all aspects of the vendor relationship, inclusive of Purchase Terms, Cost Negotiation, Promotions, and Product Supply, in order to build carefully curated vendor portfolios that help drive performance against our key KPIs such as Gross Profit, Customer Satisfaction, Availability, and Paid Marketing (Co-op).
You'll spend time on the following: You will be responsible for spending 50% of your time sourcing new vendors to include their offers on our platform, and the remaining time developing and sustaining long-standing relationships with company-approved vendors. You will manage a given vendor portfolio with the goal of growing and optimizing sales to meet demand. As a Business Developer: You are excited about contributing to launching and developing a new business. You will conduct market research to identify new business opportunities and customer needs. You will analyze market trends and competitors to develop strategic business plans. You will seek out new business opportunities through cold calling to engage, consult, and close deals. You will address and overcome objections or concerns raised by potential vendors during calls. You will negotiate terms and pricing with potential vendors to reach mutually beneficial agreements. You will use negotiation skills to close deals effectively while maintaining profitability. You will source new vendors to the platform to develop product categories where there is a supply gap, such as brands and/or forecasted market trends. All new business needs to not only meet the requirements for the Groupon customer but also ensure sufficient turnover for the business, preferably across markets. As a Key Account Manager: You will be in charge of helping vendors grow and unlock their full potential both in their country of origin and cross-border in International, identifying trend opportunities you can take advantage of such as through Marketing Campaigns and promotions. You will be responsible for the negotiation of commercial terms and conditions and cost prices and competitively setting retail pricing within company and legal regulation rule sets. You will be responsible for pricing strategy, taking into account changes in the marketplace such as trends and marketing campaigns, to renegotiate and rework existing deals. You will conduct pricing analysis across your area of responsibility (portfolio and country) including monitoring the top performing deals. You will Target vendors that will provide a good range of product and new supply, particularly with a focus on Branded supply, that will support a curated marketplace that meets customer demand. You will monitor and ensure product availability to meet customer needs. You will be focused on delivering against commercial and profitability targets for your area of responsibility as set by the Groupon Goods business. You will develop and implement strategies to sell marketing assets (Co-op) to suppliers, aiming to boost their sales performance. You will be accountable for proactive upstream monitoring of pricing and duplication. You will also be accountable for product quality through regular review of top worst offending deals (refunds- customer reviews) and poor customer experience, taking corrective action where necessary. You will support your vendors in preventing and solving issues in partnership with Sales Operations. You will proactively partner cross-functionally with Groupon's international internal teams, including vendor managers across markets, our Shared Services teams, Marketing, and Operation teams. You will conduct a weekly report to the management sharing sales performance of the area of your responsibility across both your vendor portfolio and target country. We're Excited About You If You Have: 2-3 years experience working as a Business Developer with evidence of successful negotiation in competitive markets, preferably in a marketplace environment. Fluent English and Italian. Experience in trading across multiple countries, with knowledge of local government trading regulations within markets e.g. local pricing legislation. Knowledge of a marketplace model and an understanding of the requirements, pre, during, and post-sales journey. Experience in managing and maintaining relationships with vendors. Experience in range assortment planning. Experience in vendor portfolio management and vendor development. Experience in sourcing & onboarding of new vendors. Experience in pricing analysis and pricing strategy. Experience with various negotiation techniques. Software Knowledge: Salesforce, Deal Centre, Gsuite, Tableau, Commerce Interface, Freshdesk.
