Trek Travel provides global multi-day cycling vacations of a lifetime with the goal of helping more people explore and experience the world by bike. We are seeking specifically located candidates who will be responsible for overseeing and hosting Trek Travel's Self-Guided trips in Italy, specifically in Val d'Orcia, Siena for our Tuscany trip OR Asolo, Italy for our Prosecco Region trip. You will be the main point of contact for Trek Travel Self-Guided Guests while they are on trip, preparing bikes, greeting guests, and being available for any needs that arise in the duration of the trip.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT NOT LIMITED TO:Read trip itinerary and trip reports prior to trip startPrepare all bikes prior to trip start according to Trek Travel standardsCharge all electronic devices, such as Di2, lights and e-bike batteriesEnsure RWGPS experience is updated for guests and guests know how to use itEnsure GPS tracks are accurate and ready for guestsGreet guests on Day 1 at the trip hotelEnsure guests filled out Waiver and Release of Liability formsGive guests an orientation of the region and the trip daysShow guests where bikes and equipment are stored at the hotelConduct a safety and RWGPS talk in addition to a bike demo before the first rideEnsure bikes on departure day are mechanically soundComplete all trip end duties such as a Trip End ReportYOU HAVE/ARE:Knowledge of bike mechanics such as:Remove and replace either a tube and/or tire from both the front and rear of a bike, and properly seat wheel in the dropouts with proper tightening of the quick release leverRemove and install pedalsAdjust a bike saddle, both height and fore/aft positionRemove and replace a brake cable on a road bike equipped with internally routed cablesProperly adjust both brake pad alignment and lever throw on a road bikeRemove and replace a derailleur cable on a road bike equipped with internally routed cablesProperly adjust both front and rear derailleurs on a road bikeAdjust a bike helmet for the proper fitProperly tape handlebars on a road bikeDemonstrate general familiarity with carbon fiber bike framesChange a handlebar stem and properly tighten to the specified torqueAt least 23 years old
Reside in or around one of the following regions where we operate: Tuscany in Val d'Orcia or Siena, Italy. Prosecco region in Asolo (Veneto region), Italy.
Clear driving records
Current First Aid and CPR certifications
Proficient driving a standard transmission with a trailer
Available in the months of April – October.
HOST COMPENSATION RATES:The host gets paid on the first and last day of each trip.
The host gets paid for each prepped bike.
If an emergency happens and The Host spends time assisting guests, the host will be paid an hourly rate.
Gratuities are not recommended on Self-Guided trips. However, guests can tip the host at their discretion, based on the Host's level of service.
At Trek Travel, we think outside the box, continuously improve, encourage feedback, and give it all we have, all the time, no exceptions. This is a part-time, contracted position and is not eligible for Trek Travel's competitive benefits package. This position reports to the Director of Guide Operations and will work cross-functionally with the Guide and Trip Design Departments. This position is based in Italy. Interest in the active travel industry is beneficial, but not necessary.
